A superb tortoiseshell and silver, part leather bound Desk-top Stationery Box the cylinder-form lid lifting to reveal a cardinal red colour satin lined interior with stationery compartments and deep maroon leather trimming and pen trough, the sides and rear of the exterior similarly finished. The tortoiseshell to the front beautifully contrasting with an un-engraved cartouche and pierced scroll-work with stylised flower blooms and the lock escutcheon including a shell motif. A small detached section of scroll-work is present as is the key. 311 mm wide, 139 mm deep, 190 mm high. London 1895, Makers William Comyns & Sons.
A pretty tortoiseshell and silver free-standing photograph frame suitable for a photograph 95 mm x 60 mm approximately, having bevelled glass and containing a sepia photograph of a young lady in early dress, the inset surround depicting in relief a mirrored pair of water birds and gargoyles surmounted by a ribbon swag. Birmingham 1890 & 1891 makers Levy & Salaman. To the rear of the photo is a mark "John Fergus, Largs". approximately marked Birmingham 1916, makers Levi & Salaman.
