A diverse accumulation filling a carton, the four principal stockbooks holding an exciting range of booklet panes and plate blocks from KGV Downey head right through to volumes for pre-decimal Machin and commem cylinders, plus a little early decimal incl. high value plate blocks. Highlights include the plate block sections for KGV photogravure through Jubilee and over 40 different EdVIII incl. 1d A36 cyl. 14. Also noted 1939/48 and 1951 high value sets MNH (cat. £525), 1948 Silver Wedding £1 plate block MNH (cat. £200), better Wildings in packets or cards incl. 1958 graphite inverted wmk set MNH, 1960 phosphor wmk inverted set of ten MNH (cat. £340), the commems of course excellent with probably all the better phosphor sets in plate block MNH incl. 1963 Red Cross (cat. £370), as well as unusual large smear of the dark green ink in corner of 1964 Botanical 9d block, etc. The rest of the carton is the odds and ends in manila envelopes etc, from pre-stamp through line-engraved to early QEII, noted 1924/5 Wembley postal stationery group, a small box of booklets incl. Wildings, Wilding Castles sheets incl. £1, etc, etc. Catalogue will be at least several thousand pounds in the stockbooks alone.
An over-filled carton including Great Britain presentation packs looking virtually complete from 2001-2010 (95 packs) with face value over £500, FDCs to 2010 in seven albums, a folder of worldwide new issues for the 1977 silver jubilee with many miniature sheets and booklets, awaiting presentation on as-new commemorative album pages, plus the special album for 1977 FDCs, etc.
Mint and used collection housed in a Simplex album, stockbook and cover album, including a useful range of QV and KEVII, KGV to $2 used, 'China' ovpts mint to 30cts, then good KGVI with 1941 centenary set MNH, the $10 silver wedding MNH and used plus the set on first day cover, the defins to $10 mint vlh and used, followed by QEII 1954-62 definitive set to $10 MNH and later mint sets to $50. In the stockbook a range of revenues, perfins, 19th century postmarks, etc, late 20th century plate blocks and miniature sheets, plus FDCs from 1965 through to late 1990s. Sold for the benefit of the RSPB.
Collection in seven loose-leaf albums (Senator and Simplex), displayed somewhat sparsely, however the general strength is 1940s and 1950s with Ascension 1938 set mint (cat. £250) and QEII long sets, Bahamas 1938 defin set and 'Landfall' ovpts both complete to £1 mint and the KGVI and QEII pictorial sets mint, plus a few 1935 silver jubilee sets mint incl. Australia. Also GB incl. penny black (three margins, vertical crease) and the 1942 and '51 high value sets mint, '48 wedding £1 mint and used, etc. Fresh Colours.
A group of collections in seventeen volumes, chiefly New Zealand, Australia, Canada and India, the New Zealand in three binders with range of perf Chalon heads and later QV mint, 19th century postal fiscals to £1, modern issues mostly used with some mint sets and m/s to 2000s. The Australia in three volumes with used incl. 'roos to 5/-, the mint incl. 1937/49 'robes' with 10/- and £1 imprint blocks, into 2000s, particularly 2006 incl. m/s. Then Canada in SG album incl. 1897 50cts jubilee cds used, Quebec set mint, etc, India on album pages with 4a red and blue cut-to-shape, revenues incl. green 'postage' ovpt on 6as lilac, KEVII to 10rs, KGV to 10rs mint and 15rs used, CEF ovpt set mint, useful Convention and Native States, Muscat, etc. Also South Africa album incl. SWA 1931 bi-lingual pairs set to 20/- mint, Ireland collection with 1922 first definitive set mint, an album of Omnibus sets incl. a few 1948 silver wedding high values, 1949 UPU, etc.
A stockbook with an organised run of over eighty KGV booklet panes, very little duplication, with catalogue over £17,500, though that figure is for hinged and much of this is never hinged. Includes PUC panes, Silver Jubilee cylinder numbers, a great range of advertising panes on PUC and photogravure 1½d incl. NB25 (perf type P) MNH (cat. £700 for hinged). Good perfs virtually throughout. Much recommended.
A strong collection in three binders, concentrating exclusively on pre-decimal issues, the packs looking highly complete including 1964 Geographical Congress, Botanical Congress, elusive Forth Road Bridge and so on (cat. on these three alone £550). The FDCs also an excellent range with strength in the earlier period, starting with KGV including an immaculate quality 1935 Silver Jubilee with the set of four (cat. £650), KEVIII with 1d single and other values (cat. £375), much KGVI incl. Silver Wedding £1 single and no doubt better early QEII types. Select quality virtually throughout. Please inspect.
A group of five medals named to 14027 Driver W E Bartlett, Royal Horse Artillery, including the Victorian South Africa medal with 5 bars (SA 1901,1902, Transvaal, Orange Free State and Cape Colony) 1914 star with silver rosette to ribbon bar with a bar (5th August- 22nd November 1914), British War medal and Victory medal along with a George VI "For Faithful Service"
