Rare late 16th century/early 17th century embroidered linen cushion cover, worked in coloured silks, silver and silver gilt threads in plaited braid stitch, rectangular and having allover scrolling foliage decoration, Tudor roses, cornflowers, yellow daisies, pomegranates and other fruit, with silver and silver gilt lace borders, allover embellished with silver gilt spangles and having eight pairs blue silk and silver thread ribbon ties to the ends, 46cm long x 34cm wide, ribbons 9cm long. One ribbon missing its brocade, visible from the back only. Condition ReportThere is some fading in a narrow strip down the centre of the back of the cover - I have added a photo to the catalogue showing this. There is some very minor fading to the ribbons - I have added a photo illustrating this to the catalogue, though it is quite hard to see in the photo. One of the ribbons is missing its brocade, which is present on all the others - there is also now an additional photo in the catalogue showing this. There is no other apparent damage or wear to the cover.

A peasant style linen smock with embroidered detail to the shoulders, some staining.  A woollen wedding dress designed and made in the workshops of the National Theatre when it was the Old Vic, Waterloo Road for a wedding in 1967, it was created by the mens' main cutter Stephen Skaptason and a Canadian from Stratford, Ontario and costume supervisor Ivan Alderman, this has a zip fastening full length with train, shawl collar the sleeves with slight split, with hook and eye fastening, lined, overall condition good (5)
