A SILVER HIP FLASK HALLMARKED 1854, with a balloon shaped body, the lower half of the casing can be removed and used as a drinking vessel, the body with acanthus scroll engraving, a vignette of a pair of dogs observing a ternion of wildfowl taking flight on one side, and with a blank circular escutcheon on the other, with a screw-top with a cork inner.
AN UNUSUAL POWDER FLASK, POSSIBLY ITALIAN, 19th century, 12in. long, comprising a silver-plated inner covered with a pierced and carved cow-horn outer depicting images from Roman legend including Romulus and Remus being suckled by the wolf, a portrait bust of an Emperor surrounded by a laurel wreath, a charioteer and a foot-soldier with columns in the background (possibly gladiators in the Coliseum), and a Roman soldier standing at the bottom of a staircase with a woman looking on from the top of the stairs, near the neck of the flask a heart-shaped panel is engraved with 'FEKETE', silver-plated nozzle with sprung iron cap.
