Pratt No. 1 Canterbury", in heavy gauge silver Consular case, 58mm diameter (gross weight 197 grammes), hallmarked London 1817 and with case maker's mark "I.R." (James Richards, 9 Bridgewater Square, London) Note 1: The underside of the cock is engraved with the initials "E.M.P." (Edward Massey's Patent) and No. 1544, suggesting that Massey finished the watch for Pratt Note 2: Thomas Pratt recorded working in Canterbury circa 1800-1855. Cochin, depicting The Abduction of Helen of Troy, 54mm diameter (gross weight 132 grammes) Note: William Gib recorded born 1707 (son of William Gib Snr.), worked independently probably from 1733, and from 1736 several times as officer of the St. Eloy Guild, died in 1770. His highest known watch number so far is 220, watch No. 214 is probably circa 1750. It would seem he made few watches after that. Provenance: Exhibited at the Antiquarian Horological Society's Tenth Anniversary Exhibition at the Science Museum, London, in 1964 - Exhibit No. 89

(Thomas Carpenter, 5 Islington Road, London), the outer case with watch paper for Isaac Rogers, White Hart Court, Lombard Street, London, contained in later blue velvet covered case with applied monogram and coronet to front Note: Isaac Rogers was in business at White Hart Court, Lombard Street, London, succeeded to his father's business (also Isaac) in 1776 and moved to 24 Little Bell Alley in 1802 and died in 1839 - the firm made a large number of watches for export to Turkey, but this example appears to have been made for the home market
