A South Italian giltwood and gesso frame, circa 1680, carved with a tasselled canopy hung with festoons and surrounded by scrolling acanthus, the whole centred by a rectangular glazed inner frame with flower border and enclosing an associated Trapani carved coral figure of a gesticulating male saint, perhaps St Peter, standing above a cartouche (small restoration) within an oval gilt metal mandola set with flower heads of coral and silver, overall height 87cm (34in) by 56cm (22in) wide.
