A well-engineered gauge 1 model of a live steam LNER 2-6-2 tender locomotive No 4771, built by Mr Ron Cook of Tyne and Wear to D Hewson plans. The silver soldered copper boiler having fittings including water sight-glass, pressure gauge, regulator, direction control and checker plate cab floor. The chassis with twin outside cylinders, fluted motion and Walschaert s valve gear, six wheel tender. The model finished in apple green lined livery with polished brightwork, fitted steps and hand-rails. Display track and carrying case. Please note some pipework has been removed for pressure test purposes. * This locomotive is based on the LNER Class V2 tender locomotive Green Arrow being the first of its class and designed by Sir Nigel Gresley. Only one of these full size locomotives has survived into preservation. Built in June 1936 at Doncaster and used for Express mixed traffic work.

The model comes together with a metal carrying cradle. * This model was exhibited at The Taunton Model Engineers Golden Jubilee Exhibition 1996. Chassis with twin outside cylinders, Stephenson s internal valve gear, cylinder drain cocks, fluted motion, injector and eccentric driven axle water pump. Six wheel GWR 1070 3500 gallon Swindon tender having fitted hand feed pump, fitted tool boxes, vents, rear lamps, steps and hand rails. The model finished in Great Western Railway green and black lined livery with crest and fitted with couplings, vacuum hoses, steps, hand-irons and detailed rivet work. Length 159cm. Cab width 24cm. The model comes together with a display track. -393 * No boiler History available * This model County was the last new GWR 4-4-0 design and by far the most modern, with inside frames and outside cylinders. They were designed as a part of George Jackson Churchward's standardisation plan, but were found to have a front end too powerful for the wheel arrangement and all were withdrawn by the early 1930s. They were designed, in part, for the Hereford to Shrewsbury LNWR line over which the GWR had running powers, but on which they were expressly forbidden to use 4-6-0 locomotives. The 4-4-0 Counties were in effect a shortened GWR 2900 Class, providing engines powerful enough for the trains but with the requisite four coupled wheels.

The silver soldered copper boiler with fittings including pressure gauge, water sight gauge with shut off cocks, regulator, direction control, blower, two injectors, safety valve, steam brake and blow down valve. The chassis having twin inside cylinders 1 ¾ bore by 3 stroke with Greenly-Joy valve gear, two injectors, foot plate controlled cylinder drain cocks, fluted motion and fitted mechanical lubricating system. The model finished in black and red lined livery with cab-side number plate, George the Fifth' name plate and six wheel tender with driving seat, foot rests, hand feed pump and water cocks, fitted hand-rails, steps and vacuum hose. Total length of locomotive and tender 214cm. Cab width 32cm. Height of locomotive at cab 50cm. Boiler history: Swindon Boiler Serial No 87189. Certificate dated the 8th of March 1987 Hydrostatic test pressure 200 psi. Working pressure 100 psi. Passed boiler history from the February 1995 to 2012 available for inspection at the auction rooms on view days. The locomotive has not been run since 2009. No current boiler history available. Engine details include cylinder approximately 1 inch bore x 1 ½ inch stroke, drain cocks, mechanical lubricator, trunk type crosshead guide, Stephenson's link reverse, eccentric driven feed pump and bypass, two road speeds and spoked flywheel having lined finish. Pickering type governor with belt drive from crank, chassis details include spoked straked wheels with polished brass hub caps, worm and roller chain steering, spud pan, damper, cable drum, fairleads, water lifter, hand brake to second shaft, wooden footboard and tool box. The model is finished in red and black paintwork with fitted road lamps. Width 16 ½ inches x length 26 inches (42cm x 66cm).

Engine details include single cylinder approximately 2in bore x 3in stroke, lever operated drain cocks and associated pipework, ratchet mechanical lubricator, trunk type crosshead guide, Stephenson's link reverse with graduated lever control, eccentric driven feed pump and bypass, two road speeds and spoked flywheel, chassis details include spoked straked wheels, worm and roller chain steering, spud pan, damper, cable drum, fairleads and hand brake to second shaft. The model is finished in red and black lined paintwork with polished brass boiler bands and hub caps. Length 127cm. Width 55cm. Height to top off chimney 87cm. An mid-19th Century model of a beam engine and horizontal live steam boiler, constructed mainly in brass with steel beam, crankshaft and rods, the cylinder ½ inch bore by 1 inch stroke, double acting and reversed by a handle beside the cylinder, steam supplied by a Cornish type boiler mounted beside the engine, the centre-flue boiler with silver soldered brass ends, the whole steam plant mounted on wood base with glazed oak show case which is believed to have been made in 1931 when the model was restored.
