Of General Gordon interest - rare Victorian yellow metal and silver mounted bullet pencil by Mappin Brothers, the brass bullet engraved 'Remember Gordon' and 'Omdurman', with yellow metal swivel ring mount and adjustable propelling pencil point, opening to 14cm. General Gordon was killed by the Mahdi Uprising at the Storming of Khartoum on 26th January 1885. At the Battle of Omdurman on 2nd September 1898, Lord Kitchener's force defeated the Mahdi Uprising leading to their total defeat the following year at the Battle of Umm Diwaykarat
