A most interesting Geo III hunting sidearm, straight SE shallow fullered blade 24", DE at point, etched, with traces of gilt, on one side with crown, GR and iii, with trophy and flourishes, and on the other with 1801-16 crowned R Arms and supporters with motto, trophy and flourishes, cruciform hilt with beaded rims to silver plated turn down lion's head shell guard, plain crossguard, lower band and flat lions head pommel, plain ebony grip, with companion knife, in its polished black leather scabbard with silver plated locket (rim AF) with lions head frog stud, and panelled chape. An 18th century Indian sword, pulouar, the broad blade stamped with W mark in the fuller and circular arsenal mark at the forte, the iron hilt having downturned quillons with stylised animal head terminals and silver rosette rivet heads, basically GC (pommel missing, patch of deep corrosion to blade); a tulwar, probably 18th century, the blade with two narrow fullers impressed on one side with crescent mark and circular arsenal mark, the plain iron hilt with large disc pommel and stylised animal head terminal to knucklebow; 3 further tulwars, two with knucklebows and one with worn silver inlaid circles; another, with broad slightly curved blade with one wide and one narrow fuller bearing traces of characters (knucklebow missing); and two tulwars with silver damascened hilts (one lacking knucklebow, the other lacking pommel and with some deep pitting to blade). Generally GC (most with varying degrees of wear). See example inside front cover. (8) £700-750
