A 1796 Pattern Light Cavalry Officer’s sabre, 83.5cm blade by Thomas Gill, with traces of etched decoration including indistinct stands of arms, Royal Arms and foliage, the forte with maker’s mark for Thos Gill, Warranted Never to Fail 1798, regulation steel stirrup hilt, silver wire bound leather covered ribbed wooden grip (wormed), contained in its steel scabbard, throat replaced.
Two 1796 Pattern Infantry Officer’s swords, on with 80cm blade, the other 82cm, both with traces of scrolling foliate decoration and GR cyphers and one with traces of gilt decoration, both with regulation copper gilt hilts with folding side guards, D-shaped knuckle bows, Urn shaped pommels, one with silver wire bound grip, the other with wire foil, both worn and with faults. Second Volunteer Battalion Highland Light Infantry, a very rare Other Rank’s King’s Crown glengarry badge in white metal and a similar in bronze (Bloomer pg 57/58); Midlothian Coastal Artillery Volunteers, a fine and rare Officer’s silver plated sabretache badge, being a pre 1873 cannon over script MCVA. Vice Admiral George Napier Tomlin CMG MVO, a presentation silver salver from the staff of the Chilean Naval Academy, presented in February 1924 and depicting the inscribed signatures of the staff. Vice Admiral Tomlin founded the Chilean Naval Academy over a two year period following his delivery of HMS Canada, a battleship, built for the Chilean Navy.
A Victorian North Northumberland Volunteer Cavalry Officer’s Bicorn hat, the black plush body with black lace trim decorated with oak leaves and acorns, silver bullion terminals and roped bullion button swatch, the button being a QVC over NNVC, red and white feather plume, purple silk lining. Sweat band lacking and some wear.
A 1796 Pattern Infantry Officer’s blued and gilt sword to Lt General Sir John Cradock, 81cm fullered blade decorated with stands of arms, the Roayl Arms, crowned GR cypher and a figure of Britannia, the whole highlighted in gilt and set upon a blued ground, fading and wear, regulation gilt hilt with folding side guard, D-shaped knuckle guard, urn shaped pommel and silver wire bound grip, contained in its engraved gilt mounted leather scabbard, the locket engraved with a maker’s panel WRIGHT Sword Cutler No. 72 St James’s Strt London, the opposing side decorated with the crest of Sir John Cradock, the scabbard leather incised with geometric designs and stamped with the Prince of Wales Feathers.
