A George III period hallmarked silver two-part wine funnel gadrooned edge, pierced bowl and with maker's mark CF, assayed London 1813 (12cm high) There do not appear to be any repairs, the condition is very good overall the only real concern is a very small “ding” (about the size of a small match head) to the side of the circular bowl. This is in good general overall original condition with no major problems noted and it is not thin, restored or repaired.
A small silver group to include two hallmarked Christening-style tankards, two napkin rings, a 19th century silver vesta case decorated repoussé style, small early-20th century cut-glass lady's dressing requisite jar with silver-mounted lid and a small circular silver three-legged bowl (7)
Various silver cruets and pepperettes etc., comprised of a cased set of four salts and spoons, a pair of boat-shaped silver salts decorated repoussé style, a pair of small filled silver table candlesticks, a pair of pepperettes and two further pepperettes, (1 cased set and 8 other items)
A single hallmarked silver neo Classical style table candlestick, the urn-shaped bowl above a band of vitruvian scroll, on circular base, assayed Sheffield probably 1781 (28cm high) In our opinion this is missing the drip pan or nozzle and is very tarnished due to lack of cleaning over a long period of time. It has come privately from a deceased Estate along with a lot of other silver. Where the conical circular foot rises up to meet the main tapering body there is what looks like a slight kink in the silver.
A military issue open-faced pocket watch, cream dial with Arabic numerals and signed 'Orator Watch Co. - Precision', subsidiary seconds-hand at the 6 o'clock position and the reverse of the case engraved with military symbol, initials and number; together with two silver-cased open-faced pocket watches, each with white-enamel dial, Roman numerals and subsidiary seconds-hand at the 6 o'clock position (3)
A small quantity of silver coinage (to include three 19th century examples), together with a late-18th century Spanish silver Carlos IIII 8 Reales coins, 39mm, approx. 26.64g, all housed within a 19th century pin cushion modelled as a pail and carrying the wording 'Made of wood grown on the lands of Abbotsford'
A pair of fine quality ormolu and silver-plated candlestick-style table lamps with shades These used to be a pair of candlesticks that have been converted into lamps, the quality is very good on the whole although we advise that the lamps are probably late 20th Century in earlier style. There is some rubbing to the silver plate on the swans and a few scratches and a little discolouration to the faux wax “candles” although this doesn’t detract. The gilt metal appears to have a lacquer gloss over it so there are some minor marks in places but we report there are no breakages, damages or reparations noted. There is some marking to the inside of the pleated shade visible at the top. Otherwise the shades are in very good overall order.
Trevor Grimshaw (1947-2001), a large silver-framed and glazed charcoal study, expansive northern city-scape with industrial buildings etc., signed lower-right (47cm x 73.5cm) This looks like it has been framed very recently. There is now a black and silver surrounding the cream coloured mount. In natural daylight no real problems can be seen with no fading prevalent. It is a monochrome industrial landscape and as such you are viewing these buildings through smoke. The work is behind glass and as expected it looks like the glass is protecting the work. No tears, folds, scratches or restoration is noted.
A pair of mid-20th century hallmarked-silver circular dishes; each engraved with the Death or Glory insignia of the 17th/21st Lancers and 'H.C.C.' (Lt-Col Sir Henry Christopher Carden OBE Bart. (1908-1993)) and '5/6/43'; maker's mark of, and stamped, Carrington & Co., Regent Street, London (9cm diameter)
A George III period hallmarked Britannia standard silver (probably Irish) tea caddy with sliding lid above the main body decorated repoussé style in the chinoiserie taste, the central cartouche with foliate decoration and 'C' scrolls and engraved with an armorial crest, the sliding lid decorated with a pagoda-style building flanked by fir trees (10cm high (including lid), approx. 211g)There are no hallmarks to the lid apparent. The four hallmarks are directly above the ‘C’ scrolls on the cartouche which is engraved with an armorial.
