It has a new MOT until May 2024 but it would be advisable to have it checked over and serviced before too long as it has had little use in recent times. The late Mr John Clough was a true Rolls-Royce enthusiast having been Chairman of the Rolls-Royce Enthusiasts Club and of The Sir Henry Royce Foundation. A man of considerable charm and aptitude he was very well respected and liked and the condition of his cars reflect his fondness for them. 1956 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith Long Wheel Base Limousine by Parkward & Co, London made for H.M. Ambassador in Khartoum and latterly owned H.H. Sheikh Al-Ahmad Al Jaber Al- Sabah the former Prime Minister of Kuwait. Registration 833 XVX, Chassis ELW78. Six-cylinder 4.9 litre straight six engine with automatic transmission, power steering and servo-assisted brakes. This rare coach-built limousine has its original cream over light brown colour scheme with tinted windows and white wall tyres designed to reflect the intense heat of the Sudanese sun which would have boiled the occupants of the more usual black Government cars. It has many special features including two roof-mounted electric fans with leather blades ( for safety), a cocktail cabinet, a wireless mounted in a cabinet, jump seats, reading lights, and an electric division. After being used by Sir Edwin Chapman-Andrews KCMG, OBE (1903-1980) the British Ambassador in the Sudan it eventually made its way to America and thence returned to the Far-East when it was bought by the Sheikh and former Prime Minister of Kuwait for his famously large car collection where it resided in the underground car park under his Palace. Late last year it came back to these shores when our vendor purchased it, UK registered it and re-commissioned it for the road. It is a car of huge presence and of the very highest quality. The paintwork is mellow in areas but very presentable whilst the interior is generally in excellent condition with brown hide to the front and cream hide to the rear. The beautiful veneered cabinet work is a joy to behold and the car now drives very well. A full list of the re-commissioning is available to view. The indicated mileage is approx 12,623 (probably 112,623) miles. It is sold with V5, copies of original build sheets, various research and related documents. (Subject to 12% buyers premium inclusive of VAT).Good original condition, paintwork is presentable but has some crazing particualy to the wings, some splits and loose areas . The coachwork seems structuraly good with no dropping to the doors which close with a satisfying clunk. The interior is in very good original condition and has many special feature specified on the build sheets which are still present, ie fans, radio, cocktail cabinet etc.Mechanically the car drives well with a smooth gear change and generally quiet engine. It has recently been re- commisioned and the list of work has now been added to the images on our website.

1929 Rolls-Royce Phantom II Limousine by Rippon Brothers, Huddersfield and exhibited at the 1929 Olympia Motor Show. Registration AZ3896, Chassis 20WJ. Six-cylinder 7.7 litre straight six engine with four-speed manual gearbox and retrofitted overdrive. This very handsome Phantom II is attractively finished in its original colour scheme of Black over Ivory with cream upholstery to the rear and black to the front. It has many vintage charms including a V windscreen, ornate silver plated door handles, twin smokers hatches in the roof, sliding division and ingenious folding and swivelling jump seats. It was sold after the motor show to an Irishman from Belfast and was to remain there until 1979 when it returned to the UK. It has been owned since by several enthusiasts and appears to have been generally well-maintained. The current owner garages 'Gracie', as she is affectionately known, along with her other pre-war Rolls at her stately home in Suffolk. During her 12-year ownership 'Gracie' has been enthusiastically driven attending many Rolls-Royce Club events and rallies notably a tour of Portugal in 2017. In recent years she has had considerable sums lavished upon her with the well-known Rolls-Royce specialist Jonathan Wood and others with bills totalling approx. £35,000 to keep her in good and reliable mechanical order. Some sensible modifications have been carried out including the fitting of an overdrive and an electric fuel pump although we are assured it is easily put back to running on its auto vac system should the new owner desire. It is supplied with V5, handbook, dummy cap, some tools and a large history file including the old buff logbook, articles from the 1929 Show and service bills. A very attractive honest vintage car with plenty of power, huge presence and a fascinating history. (Subject to 12% buyers premium inclusive of VAT).

V8 6.75 litre engine, automatic transmission, power steering, air conditioning, electric windows and ariel. This lovely original car is finished in Rolls-Royce Sand over Astrakhan with beige hide and fawn carpets.
