19th Century Decorative Chinese Red Silk Skirt, in floral figured silk, multi pleated, with applied purple silk panels edged in pale blue silk, embroidered with birds and floral motifs in gold, silver and metallic threads, hung with eight embroidered purple silk straps to each hip, pale blue/green silk lining These and lots 2219, 2205 and 2206 were all collected by the vendors Great Aunt the late Dr Mary Cram (nee Redhead), she was a Methodist medical missionary surgeon in China in the 1930’s. Mary visited twice, firstly as a single lady and a surgeon, 'what an amazing lady just to be a surgeon at that time, never mind going out to China on her own!'
