Lot 531

A Victorian double ended cranberry glass scent bottle, with opposing white metal ends either hinged or screw top, 10 cm long. CONDITION REPORT: One silver coloured metal end is hinged and has two small dents in the lid and further smaller knocks. The metal is not hallmarked. The stopper is missing from the interior. The opposing end is screw off and has small knocks around the rim. It has a cork seal which is loose inside the lid. There is a very small graze to a faceted edge in the centre of the body, otherwise it appears to be from any further chips.

There is light tarnishing to both sides. The presentation box is in good order throughout. The hinge and locking mechanism work as they should.

An Aspreys of London silver bookmark, Birmingham 1932, with engine turned decoration, in original case of issue, 7 cm long (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: There is no engraving other than the manufacturers engine turned decoration. The spring by the main joint does not appear to be working but it is intact. At the opposing end of the shaft the small stem does rotate. The item fits the box as it should and there do not appear to be any missing pieces. There is only one spring on the mechanism. The hallmarks are clear. The presentation case is in good order throughout. It has the instructions for use applied to the underside of the box.

Lot 583

A pair of Edinburgh silver Kings pattern sauce ladles, 1834, maker for Andrew Wilkie. CONDITION REPORT: Gross weight 123.7 grams. Length 18.5 cm. Both are monogrammed below the shell terminal. One ladle has very clear marks, on the other they are ever so slightly rubbed but still clear.

A George III silver wine funnel, the upper section London 1801, makers mark partially rubbed, the spout marked for John Emes, 15.7 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Given the rubbed makers mark on the bowl we are not convinced that the two items started out life together but we believe that they are of the same period. They both fit together incredibly well and the fit is snug, tight and secure. The thumbpiece to the bowl appears to have scratch weight marks. Both pieces are in good order with no obvious faults.

An early 19th century Dutch silver metal medal, the obverse with Minerva seated beneath a tree accepting a book beneath legend "Tot nut van't Algemeen", the reverse with legend "Terprys der Maatschappij" and struck within an oak wreath tied with a ribbon "aan Augustus Maine den Eight sten van Oogstmaand 1820 and inscribed in Dutch to the edge "Voor Edelmoedige Daden (for generous deeds)", 39 mm diameter (pierced).
