A set of six George V `British Hall Marks` silver rat tail teaspoons, London, Birmingham, Sheffield, Chester, Glasgow and Edinburgh 1935 by Roberts & Belk, cased, together with an Edwardian silver two section playing card box with hinge lid, London 1901 by Grey & Co, two silver cigarette cases, a Russian silver and niello oval napkin ring, silver vesta and chain, silver and enamel pill box, four other items of silver and a cigarette case with foliate decoration.
A Victorian silver milk jug of baluster form with foliate capped scroll handle, the body decorated in relief with flowers and scrolls on a trellis ground framing a scroll cartouche with engraved inscription `Gads Hill Place, 1862`, on three foliate shouldered scroll feet, London 1849 by Hunt & Roskell (John Samuel Hunt), height approx 15cm, together with an 1853 volume of Bleak House by Charles Dickens and a monochrome print of `Dickens House in Furnivals Inn`, framed and glazed. Note: Gads Hill Place in Higham, Kent, was the country home of Charles Dickens. Gads Hill Place acted as his retreat from the purchase in 1856 until his death in 1870, when he died from a stroke on a couch in the dining room of the house. Many of the contents of the house were auctioned after his death.
A late Victorian silver novelty strut frame in the form of a kennel, inset with a miniature ivory panel painted with a long haired grey terrier, signed `Kitchener` and dated `1900`, London 1898 by James Samuel Bell and Louis Willmott, inscribed `Dobson & Sons, 32 Piccadilly W` verso, `Rd 329067` recto, height approx 12.5cm.

A matched pair of Victorian and later silver entrées dishes, covers and handles, each of rectangular form with scallop, flower and scroll cast borders, the handles modelled as a sphinx and engraved `Gibraltar, Peninsula`, each cover engraved `LVIII` within a foliate scrollwork cartouche frame, London 1829 by Benjamin Smith, London 1904 by Mappin & Webb and other marks for J.E. Terrey & Co, length approx 34cm. Note: the LVIII engraved on the dishes relates to the 58th Regiment of Foot, which was formed in 1755. The 58th was granted the County Title of Rutlandshire in 1782, which it held until 1881 when it was amalgamated with the 48th (Northamptonshire Regiment of Foot), becoming the 2nd Battalion of Northamptonshire Regiment. The sphinx handles bearing inscriptions `Peninsula` and `Gibraltar` represent their famous campaigns where they were stationed at Gibraltar in part of the great siege from 1779-1783, in the French revolutionary wars in Egypt at the Battle of Alexandria and later, under Wellington in the Peninsular Campaign.
