A 1978 Harley Davidson FXS 1200cc, registration number TPE 755S, ***frame number 2F60853H8 (not 2F60853HB), engine number 2F60853H8 (not 2F60853HB)***, blue/silver. This Harley was purchased by the vendor, the second owner, in 1978 direct from the first owner, a Director of Kickers Shoes who only retained the motorcycle for six months. The Harley is fitted with Crane electronic ignition, a balance crankshaft by Basset Dan, gas flowed cylinder heads by Branch Flowmetrics from California and a stainless steel exhaust. Having been in store for the last few years, it will now require recommissioning before obtaining a new MOT. V5C, no MOT See illustration
A 1956 Norton Model 7 Dominator, registration number 892 YUB, silver and black. Introduced to the general public at the 1948 Earls Court Show, the Model 7 Dominator was Norton's first twin engine motorcycle of the modern post war era. The early versions featured the plunger frame with roadholder front forks. From late 1952 the Dominator acquired the swing arm frame. In 1954 an improved eight inch front brake was fitted and an aluminium cylinder head replaced the old cast iron item. The Model 7 would then remain basically unchanged until 1956 when the featherbed frame Model 88 became available. The Model 7, we have the pleasure in offering for auction, is one of the later versions featuring all of the models later revisions. Restored by the vendor to an extremely high standard and coming from the same stable as the ex Pip Harris Manx combination. ***The Norton will be offered for auction with a written statement from the vendor but no history file***. A 1929 Norton Model 18, registration number KX 3016, frame number 37597, engine number 45340, gearbox number 99136, silver and black. From the estate of the late Tony Jamieson, this Norton Model 18 was originally supplied by Slade Motorcycles, Penn. This early saddle tank example has been the subject of an older restoration and is presented in good condition but will require recommissioning due to its time in storage. A 1955 BSA Golden Flash Gold Star replica, registration number WSU 228, silver/chrome. This beautifully restored BSA has been finished to represent the iconic Gold Star. It features clip ons, rear sets, single hump seat, stainless steel fastenings throughout, rebuilt engine and carburettors and powder coated frame. Since completion the vendor advises us that only one mile has been added to the odometer and this BSA will require careful running in before exploiting its full power. A 2013 Skyteam Ace 125cc café racer, registration number HF13 ENJ, silver. The Skyteam Ace is a learner legal 125cc interpretation of the legendary limited edition Honda Dream 50, which was itself a tribute to the 1962 CR110 racer. This example has a classic colour combination of silver tank and tin ware with a red frame. A 1989 BMW R80, registration number F282 XRL, frame number 6447918, ***engine number 23880156 (not 25880158***, silver. This BMW R80 was purchased by the vendor from Bridge Motorcycle World, Exeter in August 1994 with a recorded mileage of 12,214 miles. The BMW is being offered for auction as a restoration project as it has been in store for over 20 years due to the vendor's ill health. The odometer now reads just over 16,000 miles. The BMW will be offered for auction with the purchase receipt from 1994, some service bills, past MOTs, tax discs and a replacement R100 fairing. The ex Pip Harris 1951 Norton 596 Manx 30M/Watsonian racing motorcycle combination, frame number E11M35893, engine number D11M22055, silver and black. In the post WWII years the likes of Eric Oliver and Peter Valentine (Pip) Harris enjoyed just as high a profile with their combinations as their contemporary solo stars. Pip had great success in both the world championship and British short circuit racing over a 25 year career piloting Norton, Vincent and BMW combinations with his highest finish in the worlds a third in 1956. This Norton Manx was despatched to Pip on 3 March 1951 and according to the Norton factory records was supplied with a 500cc 30M engine, a rigid frame and girder forks. Now 596cc fitted the DOHC engine will have been one of two engines used by Pip in the 1951 season. A 500cc limit was stipulated for the World Championships but there was no such restriction for British domestic racing, hence competitors would have one frame and two engines. This ex Harris Manx was purchased from the estate of the late Reg Dearden, one of the most famous of all Norton tuner/entrants, by the late Eric Biddle of Horwich near Bolton. The ex Dearden Nortons were assembled for Eric Biddle by Kerry Kearton who was paid in surplus bikes and parts. One of the machines Kearton received was the ex Harris combination, which our vendor brought from him in the early 1970s. It was subsequently restored in the 1990s and was then displayed at The National Motor Museum Beaulieu for many years, all be it unfortunately mistakenly identified and attributed to Eric Oliver. The renowned Norton historian Dr George Cohen identified this Manx as having been supplied new to Pip 'The King of Drift'. Now requiring careful recommissioning, this rare and historically significant racing outfit would provide the new fortunate owner with the opportunity to participate in some of motorcyclings most prestigious historic events such as Les Coupes Moto Legende at Dijon, Bikers Classics at Spa Francorchamps and the ever popular Festival of 1000 Bikes at Mallory Park. The historic Manx will be offered for auction with sundry paperwork. See illustrations
