A pair of silver candlesticks, detachable sconces, reeded columns and stepped beaded bases, Sheffield 1890. Height 13 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The date letter of the hallmarks is not clear at all. They are however as described Sheffield 1890. It is just possible to read the X. Both detachable sconces are in good order and the hallmarks are clear on both. The column on one of the candlesticks is slightly misshapen and there appear to be small solder repairs in places. The same candlestick has solder repairs to all but two of the corners. There will have been holes here. The repairs are old and clearly visible. The second candlestick is in better condition generally but does have a solder repair to two corners of the upper section of the base. Generally speaking the candlesticks are presentable but clearly worn and thin places.
A George V silver cased mantle clock, with French single-train movement, Birmingham 1922 and raised on short ball feet. Height 18.5 cm, width 14.5 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The clock winds and is currently ticking as it should. The glass is in good order and the case is undamaged. The case itself is structurally very solid but does have a number of small dents. These will be evident from our images. The rear of the case is solid oak and again has minor surface scratches and blemishes.
A silver cased Goliath travel clock, the timepiece being knob wind. Case diameter 68 mm, the case London 1900 (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The silverwork is in generally good order. There are no holes in the repousse work and only very minor surface scratches and small dints. The leather case is in generally good condition but does have minor surface scuffs. The hinge operates as it should. The easel back support is missing. The interior lining is in good order generally with minor staining. The timepiece itself is in generally good condition. The outer case is very clean. The clock glass and dial are undamaged. There is some slight discolouration to the face around the numeral 10 but this is minor. The watch does wind but is only running for seconds at a time and probably requires lubrication and a clean.
An early Victorian silver flask and fitted cup, by John Tongue, the engraved feather plume patterning over a Scottish belted clan crest of boars head erased and Latin motto "Domat Omnia Virtus" (Virtue Overcomes All), Birmingham 1847 (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This lot is in generally very good condition. The lid is crisp and clean and screws on as it should. The upper part of the body is in generally good condition. There is a trace of an old solder repair across one shoulder down the seam, this is minor. The covered base is in good order. The detachable base cover is also in good condition with an old repair of approximately 1 inch at the base seam, again this is minor.
