VI silver pocket cigarette case of rectangular form, having engine turned decoration and monogrammed to the corner L.C.R.E. maker D.R.H., Birmingham, 1945, 14 x 9cmLIONEL CHARLES RENWICK EMMETT. (1913-1996) - competed in several Olympic Games as a member of the Indian hockey team. As a qualified doctor, he served in the Indian Army Medical Corps and was awarded the M.B.E. in 1945 when in the rank of Temporary Major, he was later promoted to Lieut' Colonel and awarded the Military Cross. Emmett also held a licence to shoot rogue tigers and elephants; included in this lot is a photograph of Emmett with a tiger he killed titled "The Man-eater of Mariani," together with a typed account of the killing.
