A Victorian silver presentation trowel with turned ivory handle, the blade engraved with leafy scrolls and flowerheads, the crest in the form of a coronet with a stag and motto below, Foi Est Tout. The inscription reading 'Presented to the Rt. Hon. Henrietta Anne Theodosia Countess of Ripon by the Committee of The Huddersfield Mechanics Institution on the occasional of her Ladyship's laying the foundation stone of the new building October 5th 1859. Note: `North and South Sun-Spots`, taken with the use of George Ellery Hale`s Spectrohelioscope, was one of the first photographs taken at the Mount Wilson Observatory.
