A GWR silver-plated one-pint tankard, by Elkington. Dated 1907. The side clearly displays the full "Great Western Railway Hotels" scroll and crest, and is decorated with two bands of concentric rings. Replated to lovely condition. A quality piece as you would expect from Elkington.
A WORKSPLATE "The Baldwin Locomotive Works Philadelphia 52103 USA July 1919". As carried by a 2'6" gauge 2-8-0 No.12 for Senado Sugar-Mill Cuba. It was later transferred to Narcisa Sugar-Mill and regauged to 2' 31/2", and currently is at Obdulio Morales Sugar-Mill as their No.1366. Circular convex brass, 9" diameter, in ex-loco (silver paint) condition.
A GWR silver-plated grapefruit dish, by Mappin & Webb. The side clearly displays the pre-grouping "GWR. Tregenna Castle Hotel" garter crest. The supporting pillar from the circular base has a four concentric rings design. 41/4" diameter at the rim. Replated to very fine condition. The Tregenna Castle Hotel, St Ives, Cornwall, was taken by the GWR on lease in 1878, purchased in 1895, and is still open in private ownership.
A small Great Central Railway miscellany - a silver-plated two-handled sugar bowl with the huge "Great Central Ry. Steamships" and "Forward" crest on the side (vgc); a silver-plated tiny cream jug also displaying the huge "Great Central Ry. Dining Car" and "Forward" crest on the side (21/2" tall, vgc); and a glass whisky flask, with stopper, embossed "Great Central Railway" in a circle on one side (vgc).
A small miscellany of GWR silver-plated items - a half-pint tankard by Elkington clearly displaying the pre-grouping "GWR Refreshment Department" garter crest on the side; a milk jug (31/2" tall) displaying the "Great Western Railway Hotels" full crest on the side; and a two-handled sugar bowl displaying the "GWR Restaurant Car" scroll and full crest on the side. All three pieces in very good, original condition.
A Great Central Railway silver-plated one-pint tankard, by Walker & Hall, pinched-waist style. The side clearly displays the large "Great Central Railway" garter crest enclosing the letters "YG". An acanthus decorated handle. Minor dents at the base, otherwise in good, original condition. The Yarborough Hotel Grimsby was taken over by the MS&LR in 1890, sold in 1952 and is still open.
A PAIR OF SILVER CAFE AU LAIT POTS, of baluster form, the domed hinged covers with orb finials, capped spouts and with composition scroll handles, on stepped circular foot, 8in. (20cms) high, together with a SMALL CREAM JUG AND SUGAR BOWL, 3.5in. (9cms) high and 2.75in. (7cms) diameter respectively, Birmingham 1973, .....34ozs gross
