Golfing and Wemyss Interest. Silver Tyg 'The Elcho Golf Club'. 202 g. Birmingham 1935. Maker: John Taylor and Co.Inscribed 'The Elcho Golf Cup, Presented by The Lord Elcho for competition among the members of the Investment Registry Staff 1914' and 'Winner 1935, W.Slark'.W.Slark appears to have been a successful golfer playing - and winning - many events in the south of England in the 1930's, 40's and 50's. As for Lord Elcho, he seems to have been very keen on golf but apparently never played. Research tells: Lord Elcho himself does not appear to have been a golfer. At least, he never mentions it and it certainly appears to be the conclusion from the reported quotation remarks on the word "golf" in his Journal. He would have have known the game, as the Wemyss family were well connected to golf.Height 11 cmsCondition report: No issues.
