A 19TH CENTURY OCTAGONAL INDIAN SILVER CASKET profusely decorated with birds amongst foliage and with decorative loop handle decorated with birds, simple hinged clasp and on four scroll supports (handwritten label inside inscribed in ink "Purchased by Lord Combermere in 1839 - from some agents who had bought it from a soldier - its captor, in a reception room of the Palace Burtphore" 16cms high 26cms wide, good condition NB: Lord Combemere was Commander in Chief in India and besieged the Burtphore palace, eventually storming it in 1826.
