Lot 1

An Art Nouveau silver purse, Sampson Mordan & Co, London 1907, of rectangular form, the hinged cover embossed with a sprouting floral branch, Rd. No 428858, black fabric lining, upon a belcher link chain with plain polished ring, 10.5cm x 7.2cm, weight 2.77oztCR; Some light denting to the corners and sides. Moderate scratching and wear throughout, commensurate with age and use. Some loss of definition to the embossed details. Some minor splitting to the case where the chain meets the case. Cover opens smoothly and closes with a snap, but does not sit completely flush to the sides, leaving slight gaps. The black fabric lining is pulling away from the sides slightly, and a few pulls and snags. The chain is in good order, no major denting, misshaping, splitting or repair - general scratching and wear between contact points, commensurate with age and use.

A pair of George V cut glass silver mounted whiskey noggin, Hukin & Heath, Birmingham 1915, each tapering glass body with star cut bases and simple loop handles, plain polished mounts and covers, each 9.5cm high (2)CR; The glass bodies are in good order, no cracks or major cracks/losses. The star cut bases show a couple of minor chips and nibbles to the stars, and general scratching and wear commensurate with age and use. Both silver mounts show heavy scratching and wear. Neither of the covers sit flush, and sit at an angle. One example shows some bending to the thumbpiece. One example has a slightly loose screw to the join, and both covers are slightly wobbly. Some wear to the hallmarks. See pictures for illustration.

A Chinese Qing dynasty silk rank badge,Civilian badge of the 5th rank,Embroidered with a silver pheasant,Framed and glazed,Frame size 46cm x 44cm, Size of textile panel 31cm x 29cm CONDITION REPORT:The piece is framed under glass and has not been removed for inspection.  The panel appears to comprise two vertical sections joined in the middle.  There are some worn threads around the join, including gilt threads that have lost their surface revealing the fibres below.  Similar worn gilt threads can be seen in other areas of the badge.  The coloured threads are generally clean and bright, but are likely to have faded somewhat over time.  The gilt thread border shows the odd pulled thread, particularly along the right and bottom edges.

No.249288, 11.3cm wide, weight 2.73oztCR; The dividers are in good order, no obvious signs of misshaping, splitting or repair. Some minor dents, general scratching and wear commensurate with age and use. The diamond shaped base shows some minor denting, general scratching and wear commensurate with age and use. The feet are heavily dented, one shows splitting around the top, and a couple show signs of solder repair. One foot makes a rattling sound when moved. There is a minor wobble on a level surface. See pictures for illustration, which show the largest patch of solder repair on one foot, the split and the hallmarks.

There is denting throughout the body to create texture, but none appear to be from obvious damage. Some light misshaping around the opening. Moderate scratching and wear throughout, commensurate with age and use. Some wear to the embossed and engraved detail. Engraving is crisp. Heavy wear and some cracking to the leather handle. Moderate rusting and wear to the buckle and fastenings.
