A 14 bore flintlock duelling pistol by Gardner, Newcastle, c 1820, well reconverted from percussion, 14½” overall, the sighted octagonal twist barrel 9”, signed at the breech; the signed stepped lock having rainproof pan and roller on frizzen spring; fullstocked with chequered butt (the chequering well recut), silver barrel wedge plates and vacant shield shaped escutcheon, and steel mounts including large floral engraved trigger guard with pineapple finial; the replacement ebony ramrod having horn tip and iron worm. GWO & C (the barrel and mounts slightly worn, the former with dark rust stains). Plate 11
