Items relating to Luftwaffe Unteroffizier Horst Humme, comprising Pilot’s badge of an un-named type not shown in Beadle, the wreath with matt dark grey finish, the oxidised eagle cleaned to silver finish, in its box of issue; Iron Cross 1st class in box of issue; photo copies of Certificates for Pilot’s badge (Jan 1943), Iron Cross 1st class (April 1944), Reconnaissance clasp in gold (July 1944), Pilot/Observer’s badge (1st Sept 1944), and Honour Goblet (10th Sept 1944); copy of Humme wearing awards; a letter from Humme to Steven Hall dated 2001, and photographs of Humme and his wife c 2007. A 14 bore flintlock duelling pistol by Gardner, Newcastle, c 1820, well reconverted from percussion, 14½” overall, the sighted octagonal twist barrel 9”, signed at the breech; the signed stepped lock having rainproof pan and roller on frizzen spring; fullstocked with chequered butt (the chequering well recut), silver barrel wedge plates and vacant shield shaped escutcheon, and steel mounts including large floral engraved trigger guard with pineapple finial; the replacement ebony ramrod having horn tip and iron worm. GWO & C (the barrel and mounts slightly worn, the former with dark rust stains). Plate 11
