Horseshoe brooch, with paste stones on a silver mount, 25mm diameter From the estate of the Late Alan SearleAlan was private secretary to William Somerset-Maugham and subsequently had a relationship with the Author until his death in 1965The vendor states The Jade & Gold cufflinks were a gift from William Somerset-Maugham to Alan Searle as was the Cigar Piercer. Alan certainly wore the Fob Watch and my mother recalled him wearing it during several of her visits when they had dinner together. The gold box was a gift to Maugham and was passed to Alan on Maugham's death. My mother kept the box by her at all times in her handbag. The crest is that of Maugham.
