Great Domesday Book, Penny Edition, published at the invitation of the Public Record Office (in the 900th Anniversary year) by Electo Historical Editions, 1986-92. The Electo editions were collectors copies, very special expensive editions indeed. The books are printed on paper made from cotton to resemble parchment then bound in oak sheets (fashioned from floorboards originally installed in Tattingstone Hall, Suffolk, built circa 1500). A silver penny from the reign of William the Conqueror and a specially made one for the present Queen were set in the sheets hence the name `The Penny Edition`. The set comprises two facsimile volumes with alum tawed goatskin spines, contained within slip cases, together with translations, 2 Vols, Qtr brown leather, plus maps and indices contained in a separate Qtr Morocco book boxes, all binding by A W Lumsden, Edinburgh, folio, limited edition, numbered 220/250, signed by Baron Hailsham, Lord High Chancellor of Great Britain, and G H Martin, Keeper of the Public Records

Along with a cased set of silver miniature tankards of tapering cylindrical form with loop handles and glass bases, made in Calcutta, India and retailed by Cooke and Kelvey Ltd; early 20th century.
