A Chinese export silver handled walking stick by Luen Wo (LW, a chopmark), the top of the handle with four characters in roundels, the sides with prunus blossom, on a hammered ground, the shaft ebonised, 84.5cm (33 1/4in) long Luen Wo worked from 42 Nanking Road, Shanghai circa 1880 to 1925.

Captain Arthur Granville Soames, OBE (1886-1962) was a member of the Coldstream Guards. Charles Hardinge, 1st Baron Hardinge of Penshurst, KG, GCB, GCSI, GCMG, GCIE, GCVO, ISO, PC, DL (1858-1944) was a diplomat and statesman who served as Viceroy and Governor-General of India from 1910 to 1916. During his tenure of office the only Delhi Durbar attended by a King-Emperor and consort happened in 1911 with King George V and Queen Mary. Tonk, in Rajasthan, was a small Princely State under the British Raj with scattered pockets of territory. At the time the ruler was Nawab Sir Muhammad Ibrahim Ali Khan, GCIE.
