HANNAH B BARLOW: A ROYAL DOULTON LAMBETH STONEWARE COMPOSITE THREE PIECE TEA SERVIVE comprising teapot of compressed cylindrical form, the amber and blue wash ground with "sgraffito" decoration of kangeroos and emus with silver mount and cover, 4", together with small cream jug and sugar bowl, impressed marks, monogrammed EHB and dated 1878 (3).
Punch. Punch or the London Charivari, vol. 1, July to December 1841, wood eng. illusts. throughout, some closed tears and crude sellotape repairs to first few leaves, some spotting throughout and some leaves sprung, a.e.g., orig. pimpled cloth gilt, worn, 4to. Laid in the front of the volume is an albumen print [by London Stereoscopic Company, 11th May 1867], of the Green Room, group portrait of thirteen sitters including Sir Arthur Sullivan, Sir John Tenniel, Ellen Terry, George Du Maurier, Mark Lemon (editor of Punch), Quintin Twiss and others, approx. 17 x 23 cm with arched top. On the following blank endpapers are a presentation inscription from the proprietors of Punch, 'presented to John Knowles Esq. on the occasion of the amateur performance in Manchester in aid of the "Bennett Fund", 29th July 1867', signed by W. H. Bradbury, F. W. Evans, and William, Thomas and J. Agnew. On the facing leaf underneath a small ink sketch of Mr. Punch and his dog [by John Tenniel?] are twenty signatures of those involved including Mark Lemon, Tom Taylor, John Tenniel, Henry Silver, F. C. Burnand, Arthur S. Sullivan, Charles S. Keene, Kate Terry and others. Another copy of the photograph is held by the National Portrait Gallery. (1)

Oliver Cromwell, Lord Protector, a silver crown piece, 1658 by Thomas Simon, laureate and draped bust left, OLIVAR.D.G.P.ANG.SCO.HIB &c PRO., rev. crowned arms of the protectorate, PAX.QVAERITVR.BELLO, lettered edge HAS. NISI. PERITVRVS.MIHI.ADIMAT.NEMO ESC 10; S.3226). Very fine and toned, the usual die flaw in an early stage.

Archbishop William Laud, (1573 - executed 1645), a silver memorial medal, by John Roettier, struck after the Restoration, showing his bust and cherubs with crown and mitre, over a panarama of London, 58mm, contained in a fitted wooden box, this with a dedication to the Vicar of Woodmansterne (Nr. Banstead, Surrey), dated 1848.

An extremely rare and interesting late 17th century "chinoiserie" scent flask, of shaped oval outline with a domed oval foot, a key shaped stopper and a part matt, part polished ground, each side decorated with an oval vignette one depicting a sage-like figure looking up at birds and prunus; the other a lady within a small gazebo, draping her robes over the side rail, struck once on the foot with an Angers-type makers mark, for Pierre Labrosse, London 1695-1700, 2.5in (6.3cm) high, 0.75oz. For further information see The Silver Society Journal Autumn 1998 the article Huguenot Refugees from Anjou, by the late Brian Beet. The article illustrates this particular flask and its mark and goes into great detail about the maker Pierre Labrosse and his family.
