A George VI Scottish silver thistle letter opener, by Joseph Cook & Son, Birmingham 1937, 21.5cm, 46gm. Condition report - the blade has a few nicks and has two slight bends towards the hilt and point, the thistle top is also slightly turned towards the middle, the point of the blade is chipped, glue residue left over to the inside of the thistle where a semi-precious stone would have been.
White Star liner interest, a George V silver and tortoise shell powder and mirror compact, the top decorated with the RMS Majestic, London 1922, together with two other silver pill boxes, 59gm. Majestic was a British Ocean liner working on the White Star Line’s North Atlantic run, originally launched in 1914 as the Hamburg America Liner SS Bismarck. At 56,551 gross register tons, she was the largest ship in the White Star Line and the largest ship in the world at the time.
