An Arts and Crafts blister pearl pendant, decorated with wirework scrolls and beads, white metal mounted, (pearls untested for origin), suspended from a later chain, together with a vari gem-set spray brooch, the wirework foliate spray highlighted with blue and green agate cabochons in foiled closed-back settings, interspersed with jadeite cabochons, also white metal mounted, (later fitting), pendant length 5.2cm, brooch length 6.1cm (2)Pendant: The larger blister pearl has surface imperfections, patchy brownish staining/colouration and a fracture/crease to the left side. The smaller blister pearl has a circular chip/blemish. General surface wear, scuffs, chips/nicks to the blister pearls and mount, with patchy tarnishing throughout. Areas of solder are visible to the mount, possibly as a result of repair. There is a small split to the right hand section of the mount, between one of the beads and a scroll. The mount appears to be unmarked and the designer/maker is unknown. Metal standard is untested but the mount is presumed to be silver. The chain appears to be later and has signs of general wear, with a loose clasp that will require replacement. Chain length approximately 79cm. Pendant gross weight approximately 6.1gm.Brooch: General surface wear, scuffs, chips/nicks to the mount and gemstones, with patchy tarnishing throughout. The jadeite cabochons also have surface-reaching fractures and are untested for origin/use of treatments. Areas of solder are visible to the mount, possibly as a result of repair, and the outer edges of the mount have occasional dings and catches. The brooch fittings are possibly later added. The mount appears to be unmarked and the designer/maker is unknown. Metal standard is untested but the mount is presumed to be silver. Gross weight approximately 12.5gm.

A diamond pendant, possibly 17th century, designed as a foliate cruciform of table-cut and rose-cut diamonds, surmounted by a similarly set diamond coronet, with foiled closed-back settings throughout, the reverse with engraved decoration, in later fitted Mallett retailer's case, length 3.8cmProvenance: Christie's, South Kensington, 2002 Diamonds are well matched and fairly lively, some of the stones with chips/fractures, most stones containing fracture/mineral inclusions and with facet edge abrasion. Some of the stones have patchy brownish/greyish hues, possibly due to discolouration of the foiled backing. The table-cut diamonds graduate from approximately 3.4mm length x 3mm width to 2.5mm length x 2.1mm width. The mount has wear throughout, commensurate for age and use, with thinning and small splits/creases to the edges of the settings. There is a small pinpoint-shaped hole to the edge of one of the settings in the coronet. The fittings have wear and patchy thinning, with possible solder repairs. Engraved decoration to the reverse is rubbed, with heavier wear at the outer edges of the cruciform and coronet. Metal standard is untested but the mount appears to be silver, with considerable tarnishing/dark discolouration throughout. Width of cruciform 2.55cm, width of coronet 1.55cm. Gross weight approx. 7.7gm.The later fitted retailer's case has surface wear and is likely to date from c.1908 - 1937, when Mallett had premises at 40 New Bond Street, London and The Octagon, Bath.

Lot 167

A late Victorian diamond pendant/brooch, the openwork foliate cartouche centred with a trio of cushion-shaped old-cut diamonds in pinched collet settings, framed by channels of smaller similarly set old and single-cut diamonds, gold and silver mounted, with detachable diamond set pendant bale and detachable brooch fitting, principal diamond weight approximately 0.75ct, remaining total diamond weight approximately 1.50ct, total length 3.5cmThe principal diamonds are well matched, bright and lively, with some areas of facet edge abrasion and occasional small surface nicks/minor chips when viewed under magnification. Estimated I to K colour and VS2 to SI1 clarity, assessed mounted. Principal diamond dimensions approximately 5.4mm length x 5.7mm width x 3.2mm depth. To the centre, the two outer diamonds measure approximately 4.5mm length x 3.9mm width x 3.3mm depth and 4.7mm length x 3.9mm width x 3.2mm depth respectively. Bordering diamonds graduate from approximately 0.01ct to 0.04ct in size and have variable clarity, some stones with chips, fractures and mineral inclusions, but give an overall lively appearance. The mount has surface wear and tarnishing commensurate for age and use, with patchy thinning to the edges of the settings. Metal standards are untested. The brooch clasp is a little stiff but functioning. Width of cartouche approx. 2.05cm. Gross weight approx. 6.5gm.

Lot 189

A diamond flowerhead cluster pendant/brooch, the five-petalled flowerhead of graduated cushion-shaped old-cut diamonds in pinched collet settings, with detachable brooch fitting and fixed pendant loop, principal diamond weight approximately 0.50ct, total diamond weight approximately 2ct, length 2.5cmDiamonds are fairly bright and lively, some stones with yellowish tints and chips/fractures, with estimated I to M colour and SI1 to P2 clarity (due to chips), assessed mounted. Diamonds graduate from approximately 0.50ct to 0.03ct in size, the principal diamond measuring approx. 5.3mm length x 4.7mm width (depth unknown). The mount has general surface wear, with dark solder to the back at the centre, where the threaded aperture meets the mount. The pendant loop appears to be later added and the clasp to the detachable brooch fitting is later replaced and functioning. There is a small, fine split to the detachable fitting. Metal standard is untested but appears to be a gold/silver combination. Gross weight approx. 2.5gm.

Lot 190

A pearl and diamond bar brooch, modelled as a shell between two scrolls, set throughout with graduated old and lasque-cut diamonds and centred with a single bouton pearl highlight, two colour precious metal mounted, (pearl untested for natural/cultured origin), total weight of old-cut diamonds approximately 0.70ct, length 4.9cmThe old-cut diamonds have slightly variable colour and clarity but give an overall bright and lively appearance, graduating in size from approximately 0.13ct to 0.01ct each. Some of these diamond have chips and fractures. The lasque-cut diamonds have a typically greyish and fractured appearance but are still fairly lively. The pearl has a silvery-white hue and is off-round, with surface wear and shallow scuffs, measuring approx. 5.7mm to 6.2mm in diameter. The mount has general surface wear, scuffs and nicks/chips, with patchy tarnishing, and some thinning to the edges of the settings. The shell and scroll panels lean to one side and there is solder repair to the mount, at the rivets with the shell. The pin is functioning but appears to be later replaced, with solder at the junction to the bar. Metal standard is untested but the mount is likely to be a gold/silver combination. The pin has previously been filed. Width of shell panel approx. 1.4cm. Gross weight approx. 6gm.

The diamonds have a typically greyish and included appearance, some stones with chips and fractures. Four of the pearls are issing and the remaining pearls are bouton in shape, with slightly variable creamy-white hues, all with surface wear. The mount has signs of general wear, scuffs and nicks, with slight thinning to the edges, commensurate for age and use, and patchy tarnishing. The brooch clasp hinges so that it can be folded flat and the pin is functioning, but does not detach from the mount. Metal standard is untested. Width of panel 2.25cm. Gross weight approx. 6.9gm.

A late Victorian silver bookmark, by Sampson Mordan & Co, modelled with an owl perched on top, with engraved feathers and glass inset eyes, London 1895, 9cm long; and another similar by the same maker, modelled with an owl's face with glass inset eyes, London 1892, 9cm. (2)Both are in good condition overall. There are some scratches to the one with the owl figure terminal, and the bookmark area slightly bent/mis-shapen.

A George V silver bookmark, by Sampson Mordan & Co, modelled with an owl's face set with green paste eyes, London 1931, 8.5cm long, together with two silver trowel bookmarks with owl handles, and cabochon red inset eyes, by Crisford & Norris Ltd, and three Continental silver owl bookmarks. (6)Owl face - the green paste eyes are likely a replacement. Otherwise, in good condition overall, some minor knocks, scratches and tarnish.

A collection of seven American silver bookmarks, by Tiffany & Co, comprising two of apple shape, 5cm high, two with leaf decoration, 7.8cm, a male and a female gender sign, 5.5cm, and one other, all stamped Tiffany & Co, Sterling. (7)All in good condition overall, with minor scratches and tarnish. One of the apple shape is engraved 'Cats New-York 10-7-82'. There are three Tiffany felt bags with the lot.

Lot 310

An American silver bookmark and paper knife, with fleur-de-lys finial, by Tiffany & Co, stamped sterling and no. 5330, 17cm long, another late Victorian silver bookmark and paper knife, with knight in armour finial, by J. Dudley of Southsea, London 1897, 16.5cm long, in fitted case, two further cased silver bookmarks, and another silver bookmark by Clogau. (5)Tiffany fleur-de-lys finial has engraved initials MHJ, and is a bit bent/mis-shapen to the end, with broken off tip. The one with the letter F terminal has a few knocks, otherwise in good condition overall.

Lot 311

A collection of seven silver bookmarks, by Charles Horner of Halifax, five modelled as scimitars, one as a trowel with coral handle, and one with enamel Felix the Cat handle, all Chester 1900's-20's, a further silver mounted red plastic bookmark with Felix the Cat charm, and one other. (9)The scimitar with the blue enamel handle has some minor damage to the enamel, otherwise good condition overall, with minor knocks, scrathces and tarnish.

A late Victorian silver bookmark, by Sampson Mordan & Co, London 1897, 13cm long, a silver and enamel novelty bookmark in the form of a fish, by Joan MacKarell, London 1991, 6.5cm, two further silver bookmarks by the same maker, one as a fish, the other a bird, a small silver bookmark by Tiffany & Co, and another with pierced handle by Georg Jensen. (6)Morden bookmark is stamped 'Apperley's patent', this has a slight bend to one end, and some minor knocks and scratches. The enamel fish has some minor wear and loss to the enamel, and is very tarnished. Tiffany example has some dents and scratches, otherwise in good condition overall.

A George V silver and tortoiseshell cased mantel timepiece, the arched case with hinged top handle, and inlaid with foliate sprays and swags, on bun feet, by William Comyns & Sons, London 1912, the movement with circular white enamel dial, retailed by Edwards & Sons, Regent St, 18cm high.The tortoiseshell tp the top is split and cracked right accross from front left corner to back left corner, with further split down to front right corner, and with damage and loss to the edge of the front left and back right corners and back edge of top. Otherwise appears ok, minor dings and scratches, marks a bit worn. Front left foot detatched. Not tested as working. * Extra images attached*

Lot 341

A 19th century French tortoiseshell, mother o'pearl and gilt metal mounted necessaire, of rectangular form, the hinged cover with pierced and engraved silver plaque depicting a seated couple, mask and stylised scrolling foliage, the interior fitted with silver-gilt thimble, scissors, awl and needle case, and having mirror inset lid, 12cm wide.In good condition overall, some very fine stress cracks to the tortoiseshell and mop. Lacking stringing/edging to top round edge of plaque - some small silver pins/studs remain and some are lacking. Thimble has some dents and knocks. Some minor wear and scratches to the underside.
