AMENDED WEIGHT APPROX 365ozt Military interest: a substantial early Victorian silver breakfast service, comprising a 58cm diameter salver with shell and scroll rim and scrolling bracket feet, a globular kettle on stand with swing handle and shell feet, four-piece tea and coffee service of tapering octagonal form, coffee pot stand with burner, four egg cups on stand, butter dish cover with cow finial and stand, octagonal muffineer and associated toast rack; all by Robert Hennell III, London 1841/42, except the butter dish cover and stand, makers JA & GA, London 1841, coffee pot stand burner, John Tapley, London 1841 and toast rack, Robinson Edkins & Aston, Birmingham 1842, total weight 328 troy ounces all in; the set is contained in a bespoke iron-bound oak chest with fitted baize lining and lift-out trays with labelled compartments, supplied by Mortimer & Hunt (late Storr & Mortimer); the salver with presentation inscription 'This Salver accompanied with a Complete Breakfast Service, was presented to A. Hair Esqr. MD, on his retiring from the Service, by his Brother Officers of the Royal Horse Guards, and by 31 Noblemen and Gentlemen. who formerly served in that Regiment with him, in Grateful Remembrance of his Professional Service and Warm Friendship evinced on all occasions. June 2 1843'.
