A Russian silver Art Nouveau cigarette case, Moscow, 1900-1908, maker Egor Cheryatov, assay master Ivan Lebedkin (1899-1908), the rectangular case with push button opening and gilded interior, the front repousse decorated with irises and lilies of the valley, approx.7.9 x 10.3cm, approx. weight 5.9oz  Footnotes: Note: Egor (Yegor) Kuzmich Cheryatov founded a workshop in Moscow in 1899 and became the main supplier of silverware and jewellery to the firm of Lorie, a renowned jewellery house (and Faberge rival) operating in Russia at the turn of the century. Cheryatov is particularly well-known for the Neo-Russian and Art Nouveau creations produced by his workshop and is known to have sold both independently and through Lorie. A 19th century Russian silver samovar, Saint Petersburg, 1875, assay master mark of Ivan Vonifatiyevich Yevstigneyev, with unidentified maker's mark (possibly Latin J.H for Johann Heinoin), the samovar raised on a shaped circular foot with four scroll feet and designed with an ivory surmounted spigot, the fluted body to a decoratively pierced neck and cover, the chimney cap and lid with with knopped ivory finials, gilding to interior and chimney, the foot engraved with monogram within shield (Cyrillic H. G. Unidentified maker's mark.    Condition Report: The samovar is in good condition commensurate with age. Some minor surface scratching, nicking and light pitting noted. Some small dings and bruising to body. Some staining/discolouration and splits to the ivory finials and insulators. The cover does not appear to fit snugly into the main body of the samovar and sits slightly raised at reverse. It is hallmarked with the same maker's mark and St Petersburg 84 standard mark as the body and chimney. Some dings to the chimney. No repairs noted. No movement to the cap on top of the chimney. Some marking and wear to gilding on chimney, cover and interior. Key to underside is present but hatch does not appear to open. Overall an attractive piece in good condition commensurate with age.

A George III silver cruet set, London, 1811, Charles Chesterman II, the stand with gadrooned border and foliate chased band raised on four bracket feet, designed with loop handle and wooden base supporting eight cut glass cruet bottles including four with silver mounts, same date and maker, the stand with initial engraved to one side, together with a Scottish silver condiment spoon, stand approx. 21.5cm wide, 22.5cm high Condition Report: The cruet set is in good condition commensurate with age. Some minor surface scratching, nicking and pitting to the silver. One cartouche vacant, the other with initial. Bracket feet in good condition but possibly some small repairs to ball terminals. Stand slightly wobbly on feet. Glass cruets are generally in good condition with no cracks noted. Some minor chips and abrasion noted to all. A conchoidal fracture to collar of one of the smaller glass vessels with glass stoppers and smaller chips to the same place on the other small bottle of this design. A chip to the base of one of the large bottles with glass stoppers. Some small chips to stoppers. Silver mounts generally in good condition with hallmarks visible to all. Small repair noted to hinge of cruet with hinged silver lid and a chip to the foot of this piece. Silver collars missing from both cruets with perforated lids. Cap loose to cayenne pepper cruet.  Spoon slightly bent and bruised.

A contemporary Britannia silver jug, London, 2006, Ndidi Ekubia, of botryoidal form with hand hammered finish, the rounded body to an undulating, curved handle, 16.5cm high, approx. 30cm long, approx. weight 26.8oz(ARR)Provenance: The Hamme Collection  Footnotes: Note: Ndidi Ekubia uses traditional silversmithing techniques to create visually arresting, functional silverware. Her method is founded on the idea of pushing sheet metal to its limits and she is known for her large, sculptural vessels with a tactile quality and a vital, fluid appearance. Born in Manchester to Nigerian parents, her inspiration stems from a combination of the British urban landscape and her African cultural heritage, which gives a formal drama and a richly textured surface quality to her silver. Her Sparkle Vase became part of the Victoria & Albert Museum’s permanent collection in 2013 and her work is represented in many public and private collections including The Ashmolean, The Pearson Silver Collection and The Goldsmiths' Company Collection.

Unicorns slightly wobbly, particularly one. Some minor abrasion to gemstones. Faint residue of gilding visible in places. Hallmarks slightly rubbed.

No chips or cracks noted to glass liners. Silver baskets in good condition - some minor scratching and nicking noted. Some small splits to fruiting vine band and some bent sections but no repairs noted. One slightly wobbly on foot. Handles slightly bent. Overall an attractive pair of baskets in good condition.

A Victorian silver paper knife, formerly the property of Hannah Primrose (née de Rothschild), Countess of Rosebery, hallmarked London, 1886, Stuart Clifford, the blade engraved 'Hannah' beneath a countess' coronet to a cast terminal, possibly an 18th century Dutch bible fitting with scene depicting Saint Luke and an ox, the reverse with a clip fitting, approx. 19cm long, approx. weight 1ozProvenance: This piece formed part of lot 3536 of the Mentmore sale held by Sotheby's on behalf of the late 6th Earl of Rosebery and his family on 27th May 1977. Since then it has been owned by the purchaser and is now on the market for the first time in 45 years and only the second time in its history.   Footnotes: Note: Archibald Primrose, 5th Earl of Rosebery (1847-1929) is reputed to have said that he had three aims in life: to win the Derby , to marry an heiress, and to become Prime Minister- he went on to achieve all three. In 1878 Rosebery married married the 27 year old Hannah de Rothschild, only daughter and heiress of Amschel Meyer de Rothschild, owner of Mentmore Towers in Buckinghamshire and his wife Juliana Cohen. They were introduced by Constance, the wife of Benjamin Disraeli, Earl of Beaconsfield. Lady Battersea, recorded in her reminiscences that 'Hannah became, from the very outset of her married life, one of the most devoted and unselfish of wives that ever lived. She furthered her husband's success in every way'. Queen Victoria wrote in her journal on hearing of Hannah's death in 1890 that 'She will be a great loss to [Lord Rosebery], for she was a most devoted and excellent wife, a very good mother, and very charitable and active in all charities'. Hannah was buried in the Jewish Cemetery in Willesden and when her will, made at the time of her marriage, was probated the value was £719, 876 net (a little over £59 million in 2023).With thanks to Pursuivant Research
