McTear's is informed that this piece could be sent to the Antique Plate Committee (APC) to verify its hallmarks. Although it is unclear why the lion passant mark has been omitted from this piece, its style lead us to catalogue it as such. The piece may later have been embossed in the Victorian period, with replacement hallmarks stamped to the base. The rim of the pot has two light shadows that could possibly be the ghosts of original period hallmarks.
