Sheffield assay of various dates circa 1925, together with 12 silver bladed and mother of pearl dessert knives and forks, 12 silver bladed fish knives and forks with bone handles, 12 bone handled dinner knives and 12 bone handled dessert knives, total weighable silver approximately 156oz.
A pair of George III mahogany serpentine front knife boxes, with kingwood banding and stringing, the front with silver pierced escutcheons above a plume of feathers and a bright cut vacant shield, the interior with pierced matrices, 14.5in (37cm) h, 9in (22.7cm) w, 11in (28cm) d. Minor losses to t/s, lifting in places, crack between escutcheon and plaque.
A Victorian macasser ebony travelling toilet box, with brass banding and sunken carrying handles, the hinged cover with plush lined wallet, mirror missing, fitted cut glass bottles and jars with engraved silver covers, maker J.H., London 1853, each with an armorial and motto 'TO MNIEY BOLI', with a lift out tray and another for accoutrements, parts missing, the brass lock stamped 'J BRAMAH, 124 PICCADILLY'. 6.25in (16cm) h, 14.25in (36.5cm) w, 10.5in (26.7cm) d.
A mahogany silver box, the hinged lid with a brass campaign style handle inscribed 'William Scrope ESQR', to a part velvet lined interior with a circular paper label for 'Rundell, Bridge And Rundell', originally with a tray, with paper label 'Defert Spoons', 5in (12.8cm) h, 10in (25.5cm) w, 8.75in (21.8cm) d. Paper label spotted, lacking lock. William Scrope (1772-1852) was an artist and sportsman. He was a direct descendent of the first Baron Scrope of Bolton, lord treasurer to King Edward III. William inherited the family property at Castle Coombe, Wiltshire in 1787.
