A George I silver canon handled basting spoon, by John Clifton, London, probably 1719, the reverse of the bowl engraved with the arms of The Queen's College, Oxford, with foliate mantling, engraved 'Coll.Reg Oxon 1719', the tapering handle engraved d.Drob.Rumney AM, 7¾oz, 46cm long. Provenance: Robert Rumney was an alumni at Queens from 1704 as a scholar, he then went to Cambridge and back to Oxford in 1719. This spoon is possibly his admission gift
A cased pair of 35-bore silver mounted flintlock duelling pistols by Robert Wogdon of London, hallmarked for 1778, with maker's mark of John King, the re-bound barrels signed in gold and along the sighted flat of the breach and with transverse band of beadwork at the rear, silver fore-sights and gold-lined, touch holes, the tangs finally engraved with foliage, each also with a band of beadwork incorporating the back-sight, flat bevelled D tented locks, signed on a gold oval suspended from engraved swags, with turned silver ram rod pipes, set triggers and horn tipped ram rods, possibly original, in a re-lined and re-fitted oak case, the barrels 24.3cm long
