Reporter Cup, runners up 1923 -24 and 1925-26, cased, (4).The Heavy Woollen District is a region of textile-focused industrial development in boroughs of Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield in West Yorkshire. It acquired the name because of the heavyweight cloth manufactured there from the early 19th century.
Sir Alfred Ramsey (22nd January 1920 - 28th April 1999), an England International football cap, in blue velvet with silver braid and tassle with embroidered England three lions badge, the peak further embroidered "E V S" 1950 51, the silk interior with stitched label hand written in blue ink RAMSEY, size 7 1/8. This cap appears to have been awarded for the England vs Scotland Home International Championship match played at the Empire Stadium Wembley on the 14th of April 1951, the final score, England 2, Scotland 3.Sir Alfred Ernest Ramsey (1920-1999) who most famously managed England to win the 1966 World Cup played for his country 32 times, captaining them three times and scoring three goals. After his retirement from football in 1979-80 he retired to Ipswich with his wife Lady Victoria Ramsey. This cap was gifted to the father of the current vendor who was their gardener.
The Shipwreck S.S. Colima, Birmingham 1887, a silver cigarette case with a ribbed body, engraved to the opening edge Cranstoun A.E. Orme, Drowned 27 May 1895 S.S. Colima, the opposing side engraved J.M.A. Wyatt, 3.1ozOn May 29th, 1895, the American passenger/cargo ship COLIMA, built in 1873 by John Roach & Sons Shipyard and owned by Pacific Mail Steamship Co., on voyage from San Francisco, Manzanillo to Panama with passengers, general cargo and lumber, foundered in a storm. The ship was about 50 miles south of Manzanillo. 100 people died. The reason for the loss was that the ship was top heavy loaded, making her roll and taking water. The steamer SAN JUAN, also in service with the Pacific Mail Steamship Company, arrived at the scene of the COLIMA's sinking and rescued her survivors, but the crew of the SAN JUAN was later blamed by the COLIMA's survivors for being negligent and leaving the scene of the disaster too fast. An intriguing knife. The Victorian knife with a horn handle and silver mounted base and collar having the attached steel blade leading to a point, together with a small size leather bag with a red leather interior. The bag with the knife inside was discovered while coalmen delivering coal to a home in the 1940's found it buried in the coal chute of a house in Broadhurst Gardens Hampstead. The property this knife and bag had been discovered in the same road in which Jack the Ripper Suspect Walter Sickert lived, the knife and bag feature in the Trevor Marriott book Jack the Ripper, 'The real truth', In a separate book it is stated that a close female friend of Sickert Marjorie Lilly recalled an incident in 1918 where Sickert in her presence went and produced a Gladstone bag from the basement of his home.

Sir Alf's record during his eleven years as England team manager, including winning the World Cup in 1966, says all that needs to be said. Games played- 113, Games won- 69, Games drawn- 27, Games lost- 17, Goals for- 224, Goals against- 98. We, the undersigned, are proud and delighted to be members of his team tonight" followed by an extensive list of football clubs in alphabetical order. "Presented to Sir Alf Ramsey by the Rt. Hon. Harold Wilson, Prime Minister", housed in a blue mount and gilt glazed frame, 50.5cm wide, 78cm high, together with a Lonsdale silver plate salver engraved "TO SIR ALF RAMSEY WITH THE THANKS OF CRYSTAL PALACE F.C. 26th. November. 1969", raised on four pad feet, 20.5cm diameter (2)After his retirement from football in 1979-80 he retired to Ipswich with his wife Lady Victoria Ramsey. Pair of Rowland Ward late Victorian silver mounted horses hooves, London 1898, the silver mounts with brass acanthus leaf decorated central roundels and engraved "SPRINGFIELD, BRED BY HER MAJESTY, OWNED BY MR J.H. HOULDSWORTH, TRAINED BY JAMES RYAN".Springfield (1873–1898) was a successful English Thoroughbred racehorse that won 14 consecutive races and was a useful sire of the late 19th century. He was the grandsire of two English Triple Crown winners: Galtee More, who was exported to Russia, and later Germany and Rock Sand, who was exported to the U.S. and in turn was the grandsire of Man o' War, widely considered one of the greatest racehorses of all time.He was a bay colt foaled in 1873 at Bushy Park Paddocks at Hampton Court. Springfield was sired by the ST. Leger Stakes winner St. Albans, his dam was Queen Victoria's Viridis by Marsyas (who won the July Cup, and later sired The Derby winner George Frederick). He was sold as a yearling and purchased by J.H. Houldsworth for 320 guineas.
