Caucase region possibly Chechnia or Dagestan, Ca. 1800 - 1900 AD. A very fine steel kindjal dagger with a long double-edged blade, with three deep fullers in the centre, and tapering to the point. The hilt and rounded pommel are laid in intricate silver scroll and granulation designs and are further ornamented with a pair of knobs. The fitting scabbard is enhanced with similar decoration to the upper face, and the rear is ornamented with beautiful nielloed floral and foliate designs.
