PRESENTATION SALVER. A silver presentation salver by James Dixon & Sons, presented to Major L.C. Miller. D.S.O., R.G.A., from The Officers of 259 Siege Battery, July 1917. Sheffield 1912. Diameter 25cm. Approx. 639.9g (20.5 t.oz.) Note: Major Leonard Challinor Miller D.S.O. joined up in September 1914 as a Sapper in the Royal Naval Division & served as a Major in the Royal Garrison Artillery from 1915 to 1919. He trained & commanded the 259th Siege Battery in France & Belgium (6" Howitzers) for three years & was awarded his D.S.O. for their actions in April 1917.

W.A.S. BENSON. A set of six (five plus 1) Arts & Crafts silver spoons by W.A.S. Benson. Five spoons with stylised heart shaped finials, one with strap work finial. Five spoons fully stamped for London 1912. The single spoon stamped London 1909. All with WB maker's mark. Length 14cm (5) & 13cm (1). In fitted W.A.S. Benson Co. Ltd. box. (Box damaged but repairable). Note: Benson's silverware was not included in his everyday production. He produced tableware including sweet dishes & candlesticks as prestige, expensive items, & sold them via an illustrated Yuletide catalogue. Ref: 'W.A.S. Benson' Ed. by Ian Hamerton. A.C. Club. 2005.
