A George V silver hip flask by James Dixon & Sons, Sheffield 1923, of rounded rectangular form hinged bayonet lid, detachable stirrup cup with gilt interior, 14cm long, 9cm wide, weight 8.49oztCondition Report; Overall condition is good. There is heavy denting to the lid, some heavy denting to the edges and corners of the flask, and some small denting to the cup (concentrated at the edges and corners). There is moderate scratching to the exterior, with two big scratches to the front. No splitting or signs of repair.Gilt interior to the cup is in good order, but there are losses around the corners from frequent contact.Cork is still present to lid, but is split and has some loss. Bayonet clasp fastening is in working order, opening and closing smoothly and locking securely.Hallmarks are crisp.There are no inscriptions or monograms to this piece.The flask is water tight.

No signs of major denting, splitting, thinning or repair. Decoration is crisp and clear. It appears as though the interior was gilt, but this is now heavily worn. General scratching to exterior and interior consistent with age and use. There is no inscription to the vacant cartouche. There is some wear to the hallmarks, but they are legible. This cup sits flat on a level surface.

A Victorian silver gilt vinaigrette by Wheeler & Cronin, Birmingham 1843, of oval from with shaped rim, engraved scrolling foliate decoration and vacant shield cartouche to cover, opening to reveal a gilt interior and pierced decoration hinged grille, 5.3cm wide, weight 31.2gms (at fault)Condition Report; Grille is detached from the inside at the hinge (please see pictures). Large break to the inside rim around the hinge. There is some small areas thinning, splitting and denting to the grille itself. The hinge is bent, and does not allow the cover to close properly.General scratching, wear and tear to the case. No denting, splitting or signs of repair. Hinge and cover in good order, opening smoothly and closing flush when the grille is no present. Engraved and embossed decoration is slightly worn, but largely crisp and clear. Moderate wear and scratching to the gilt interior. Hallmarks are clear

There are dents to three of the corners on the base, two of the corners around the top, and some further small dents to the edges. No splitting or signs of repair. Moderate scratching and some pitting, Some wear to the decoration, mostly concentrated around the lip of the rim and around the edges and corners.Moderate scratching and wear to the gilt interior. It appears the have some cleaning substance on it, possibly concealing damage to the interior gilt.Hinged cover in good order, opens and closes smoothly and sits flush. Hinge could be described as slightly floppy, more notable when closing. Hallmarks to lid show moderate wear.

An Art Deco white onyx and silver mounted inkwell, marks for Henry Griffith & Sons Ltd, London 1921, of tapered form with hinged cover and glass liner, set to a square base raised on four feet, 7cm highCondition Report; Overall condition is good. The onyx is largely in good order, some nibbles and small chips to the corners of the base and feet, but no other cracks, chips or major losses. The silver mounts are in good order, no major dents, splits or signs of repair, minor dents, scratching and general wear only. Hinged lid is opening and closing smoothly, though leaves a very slight gap (does not sit completely flush). The onyx set to the cover is slightly loose and is coming away from it's setting (please see additional picture which illustrates this). Glass liner present and in good order.

General scratching and wear to the front, back and sides. All decoration and lettering is clear. Fabric insert in good order. Maker's marks are heavily worn, but other hallmarks are legible. Interior drawer is heavily deteriorated and the base has fallen out - please see additional images provided illustrating the extent of the damage.

Lot 175

A George III silver wick trimmer, Benjamin May, Birmingham 1784, of typical form with pierced foliate handles, 15cm long, weight 3.21ozt Condition Report; Overall condition is very good. There is no sign of splitting, repair or major damage to the handles - some denting and minor misshaping to the loop handles, and some general scratching and wear consistent with age and use. The handles align when closed, sits flat on a level surface. The spring mechanism is in working order and is firm. It appears that the blade does not sit completely flush, and leaves a slight gap in the cavity. There is a moderate to heavy amount of wear to the engraved decoration. The hallmarks are very crisp. There is some discoloration to some highpoints and inside the cavity (see additional pictures).

Moderate scratching and wear to exterior. Moderate wear to the gilt interior. Small inscription to top left corner of cover reading 'BANDO'. 'Dunhill London' to lip is crisp and clear. Cover opens smoothly and closes securely, but the cover is skewed and overhangs to the left slightly. Push button mechanism is slightly stiff, but is in working order.
