Origin opinion: Sri Lanka.The current owner of the sapphire ring is the great great grandson of Maud Petty~Fitzmaurice, Marchioness of Lansdowne, from whom the ring was inherited. Maud was the daughter of the first Duke of Abercome and had four children. with her husband Henry , Viceroy of India from 1888 ~ 1894.
