A CHINESE CIRCULAR JADE-MOUNTED HAND MIRROR, QING DYNASTY The handle formed from a pale celadon jade belthook with a dragon’s head terminal, flanked by two bats, the mirror backed by a pale celadon reticulated plaque with a central articulated shou character, encircled by coloured stones set into silver-coloured metal decorated in relief with incense burners and vases, 18.8cm overall. Provenance: the Benveniste collection, Montreal. Purchased in the 1960s and ‘70s.

A CHINESE SILVER GILT TEA SET, C.1900 Comprising a ewer and cover, a set of six small cups and an oval tray, the ewer with a peach-shaped cartouche to each side, decorated in relief with Buddhist figures and auspicious emblems, the spout an elephant’s head, the handle a sinuous dragon, the tray similarly decorated, the tray and cups with punch marks, 30.3cm. A CHINESE MOTHER OF PEARL SHELL, QING DYNASTY Carved in shallow relief with many figures, some mounted on horseback and carrying banners engaged in battle, others crossing bridges amongst pagodas and trees, all above large fish swimming in a lotus pond, together with three Chinese silver items: a small dish, a reticulated card case and a pencil holder, 24cm. A MASSIVE CHINESE BRONZE AND SILVER INLAID INCENSE BURNER, QING DYNASTY OR LATER With elephant head handles supporting loose rings, the body decorated with scaly dragons, the rim with bats amidst clouds beneath a band of key fret, the base with a eight character Xuande mark, a hardwood stand, 74cm across. A CHINESE BRONZE MODEL OF GUANYIN, QING DYNASTY Seated with her robes flowing around her and her hands resting on a raised knee, her face bears a serene expression and her hair is secured in a high chignon, the robes inlaid with silver wire depicting foliate lotus designs, a faint two character mark to the reverse which reads shi sou, raised on a silk base, 27.5cm. * A FINE CHINESE SILVER TEA SERVICE, MID 19TH CENTURY Of heavy gauge, comprising a teapot and cover and three further ovoid bowls and covers, all with repoussé and cast decoration depicting many figures amongst trees and pavilions in a rocky landscape, engaged in leisure activities and riding horses, bordered by elaborate arrangements of shells, flowers and foliage, each vessel supported on four feet formed as crouched figures, the teapot’s handle formed as bamboo, the spout a dragon’s head, the covers each surmounted by a scaly five-clawed dragon amongst clouds, their heads forming the knops, impressed marks to the base ‘KHC’ for Khecheong, 164oz, 30cm max. A KOREAN SILVER-INLAID IRON BOX AND COVER, 19TH CENTURY Of rectangular form, decorated to each side with a medallion within concentric and geometric designs, the larger depicting pairs of deer, the smaller with pairs of cranes, the top with an auspicious symbol within a key fret and spiral roundel, 12.5cm.
