A.L.S., Victoria Mary, two pages, 8vo, York House, St. James’s Palace, 15th May (1900), to Jenny Mackay, on her personal printed stationery. The Duchess of York informs her correspondent that she forgot to tell her before leaving the cottage that ‘the door in my boudoir rattles & shakes so when there is a wind or when people walk heavily along the passage’ and asking her to have the problem seen to, remarking ‘there must be some means for preventing this’. With blank integral leaf. Accompanied by the original envelope hand addressed by the Duchess to her correspondent at York Cottage, Sandringham. Together with a second A.L.S., Victoria Mary, three pages, 8vo, York House, St. James’s Palace, 19th December n.y., also to Jenny [Mackay]. Writing in bold pencil, in a slightly hasty hand, the Duchess asks her correspondent to look in the hanging cupboard in the Green room where she will find ‘a quantity of red cases containing silver each with a paper in it to say who it’s for’ and further requesting ‘Please look for a case containing 6 silver tea spoons - tongs butter dish and knife - with Longden’s name in it & send it me here at once’.
