A Chinese silver Bowl, circa late-19thC, maker's mark for Luen Wo (Shanghai), of circular form with reeded rim and circular foot, engraved with figures, trees and pagoda buildings within city walls, the foot inscribed "S.V.C. 1896", 4?in (12.25cm) diameter, approximate weight 6¼ozt. Note: "S.V.C." probably refers to the Shanghai Volunteer Corps. This was a multinational, mostly volunteer force controlled by the Shanghai Municipal Council which governed the Shanghai International Settlement. The SVC was in existence from 1853 to 1942.

Dec. 1906. Chairman's Cup - Second Prize Won by Pte. Daldy", the cover with ball finial, 5in (12.5cm) high, approximate weight 16ozt. Note: "S.V.C." probably refers to the Shanghai Volunteer Corps. Bernard Instone; a matching necklace and bracelet in silver by Bernard Instone, the necklace of twenty three shaped flower heads each set in the centre with a marcasite with a small silver ball flower head between each, and each one marked o the reverse 'sterling silver' and 'BI',the matching bracelet of eleven flower heads (2) Bernard Instone 1891 - 1987, Aged 12 he won a scholarship to the Vittoria Street School, after school he worked in the studio of John Paul Cooper, eventually setting up his own workshop and his two sons worked for him, one shop being in Salcombe, Devon,the other in Looe, Cornwall. He became President of the Birmingham Jewellers' Association and a liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths.
