A silver top jar, London 1920, others similar, approx. 2.7 ozt (weighable silver), and a blue glass double ended scent bottle, S Mordan, 15 cm (qty) Condition report Report by GH All of the tops strike mounts bear English hallmarks, and the scent bottle does not. The condition of the pieces in this lot are generally good with occasional small chips to glass, but no obvious major cracks or repairs, and some ingrained varnish and small dents to the silver tops/mounts. The scent bottle has some small nibbles to the glass, wear to the metal and the screw on end has been glued on, and the top is split around the edge.
A Russian silver coloured metal plate, with engraved decoration, 14 cm diameter, and a Chinese silver coloured metal miniature censer and cover, 5 cm high (2) Condition report Report by RB The silver coloured metal censer cover is approx. 65.1 g, the tray is approx. 82.4 g. The censer and cover - the cover is generally good although there is a small piece taken out of the side, which looks like it might have been a hole for a spoon, otherwise generally good.
A silver casket, having a domed lid above a frieze decorated anthemion and other motifs, with two lion mask ring handles, and on scroll feet, Sheffield 1936, 33 cm wide See illustration Condition report Report by GH Generally needs a good clean, currently very tarnished. However generally complete with no obvious major damages or repairs. Some areas very slightly misshapen and and slightly dented, with some light scratches, polish residue etc. commensurate with age and use. Hinges generally good and lid shuts reasonably flush. Lining slightly loose at the back but generally in presentable condition with some worn areas towards the edges. Overall good. Report by GH Weighs approx. 93.8 ozt
A silver coloured metal part table service of cutlery, with thread edging, stamped 800, approx. 101 ozt See illustration Condition report Report by GH There are 9 dessert forks, 15 table forks, 9 dessert spoons, and 12 tablespoons. 4 of the tablespoons, 7 of the dessertspoons, 2 table forks, and 6 dessert forks are stamped 800. The others bear maker stamps and duty marks.
An Art Deco glass decanter, with silver mounts, probably Birmingham 1939 (marks rubbed), 22 cm high Condition report Report by RB The stopper looks original, fits pretty well, with negligible movement, and matches the design to the glass base, a couple of minor nicks/chips, nothing to be concerned about, silver marks rubbed as already noted, slight blooming to the glass. Report by GH The stopper has some very minor nibbles to its bottom edge and a small chip to the actual bottom of the stopper. Silver marks are rubbed. Other occasional nibbles to the edges of the body. Presents well.
A Victorian silver three piece tea set, initialled, and with engraved decoration, London 1878, approx. 38.8 ozt (3) See illustration Condition report Report by RB The teapot: one side has a vacant cartouche, the other initialled S, the finial is attached, but present, and it lacks its nut, marks well struck to base, with a registration lozenge, the spout is a little thin to its tip. The sugar bowl: generally good, vacant cartouche and initial S to the other side. The milk jug: similar condition to above. Overall: generally good, a little rubbed rather than being 100% crisp.
A Continental silver coloured metal cigarette case, with engraved and enamel decoration, initialled, 5.5 cm wide, another, and a mother of pearl card case, with silk lining (3) Condition report Report by RB The mother of pearl case: more likely for an Aide Memoire, as it has a silk lined interior, with a central pencil section and two opposing flap pockets. Generally good condition, no chips or cracks (especially the corners), I suspect the ladybird red colouring is missing, as there is only a faint tint to it now, a small couple of minor chips to the front bottom left hand corner, where it is carved with flowers and foliage, the case itself is bowed, although I suspect this is just the shape of the shell, the silk is slightly faded and dirty in parts, and is coming away from the back.
