Large and important George II silver salver of circular form, with cast face mask and grape border with central applied armorial shield, engraved foliate surround and crest, on four cast bearded face mask and grape feet (London 1753), Phillips Garden. All at approximately 192ozs, 68cm diameter, together with a heavy separate silver plated base plate of later manufacture. N.B. Phillips Garden acquired the casting patterns of Paul de Lamerie in 1752 CONDITION REPORT Cast border is mis-shaped in places. Two of the feet are bent. No other signs of damage or major repair to border. Centre panel is quite thin and springy, surface is scratched and there is some minor denting. Central armorial shield is later and has been overlaid onto the original base and the surround engraved to match in. Underside is fully hallmarked and marks are clear. There are two separate engraved scratch weights (192.17). Securing rim is also marked and has some minor distortion and damage where it has been hammered over. Underside surface is scratched overall. Eight threaded rods (only five nuts) have been added to underside of cast border as fixing points for a later added heavy plated base, now removed
