(15.2cm.) between handles, weight 3.5 tr.oz. * Jacques Limbour was the Jersey librarian and grandfather to the later, well known Jersey silversmith Jacques Quesnel, who succeeded his grandfather in the local library.

(11.4cm.) high, gross weight 8.85 tr.oz.

An 18th century Channel Islands silver christening cup with rare duty drawback mark, maker's mark ID overstruck over London hallmarks three times to base (Jean Pierre du Port, Guernsey fl. c.1779-1788), also with intaglio king's head and Britannia duty drawback marks to base, of typical form with flared body, cast beaded S-scroll handles and short, waisted foot, inscribed to side, 'a MGB don de IRG & MMQ parain & maraine, Nèe le 7 Juin 1785', also scratch engraved initials 'BWM' to base, 2¾in. (6.8cm.) high, weight 2.7 tr.oz * Approx. 20 Guernsey christening cups with the duty drawback mark are known. Although bearing overstruck London marks, they are believed to have been made in Guernsey and later sent to England where the London marks were added and then overstruck with Guernsey marks on their return.
