A silver playing card casket, inscribed "Bridge", London 1900. Width 11.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Weight 440 grams. Makers initials rubbed but lion and date letter in good order. The lid and left hand side have some small knocks. The the right hand side has a visible dent. The interior has a red watered silk lining. The hallmarks readable on front and rear of box. There is no wooden liner.
An Edwardian slide action engraved silver visiting card case, hallmarked, H&A, 1904. CONDITION REPORT: The spring to the closing mechanism is very weak and the lid does not stay closed. There is a split to the seam on the top left hand corner. There are small dints to the sides and body particularly around the bottom corners. The engraving is generally in good condition.
A large Italian silver and blue stone statement ring. CONDITION REPORT: The ring is in generally very good condition. The shank is substantial and has only minor surface scratches as one might expect. The stone itself is in generally good order. There are three small chips to the girdle on one side. These are to the under edge of the side cut. There are other very small scratches but no significant issues.
A George V four piece silver tea service, Birmingham 1931, retailed by Edward & Sons, Glasgow, 1672 grams gross (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: All four pieces are in extremely good condition. All hallmarks are clear with no rubbing. There are no inscriptions. The lid hinges are tight. There are no dents and no significant scratches.
A Georgian silver marrow scoop, London 1748, and a stilton trowel, Birmingham 1810 (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The marrow scoop is in very good condition with no signs of repair or restoration. The hallmarks are clear and legible. The cheese trowel operates as it should. The spade area is in good condition. The sliding mechanism is buckled and there is a small fracture at the spade end of the upper slide. The slide operates as it should. The handle is in good order and simply a little dirty.
A George III Neoclassical style silver cream pail, with blue glass liner, hallmarks rubbed. Height 12 cm excluding handle, 137 grams excluding liner. CONDITION REPORT: The pail is in very good condition. The hallmarks to the underside are however almost illegible. There is a cockerel emblem to one side. The liner is in good condition and appears to fit.
A George II verge pocket watch, circa 1730, by Alexander Harvey, London, pair cased, silver coloured metal, brass and tortoiseshell. Outer case diameter 48 mm. CONDITION REPORT: Whilst the outer case snaps shut as it should there are losses to the tortoiseshell. 25% is missing to the front between 12 & 3. Approx 15% is missing to the back either side of 6. There are dents to the brass where this loss occurs. The inner silver case is in generally good condition. The dial has a loss below the numeral 6. There is a hairline crack running between numerals 1 and 2 down to the numeral 6 where the loss is. There are other small scuffs. The minute pointer is not in our opinion original. The movement winds and is ticking away.
A silver mounted cut glass inkwell, Birmingham 1900. CONDITION REPORT: The diameter of the base of the inkwell is 9 cm, height 8 cm. The cut glass base is in generally good order with no significant damage. There are the usual minor nibbles to some of the proud edges of the cutting but no significant cracks or damage. The silver top is in good order. It is a tight fit, shuts correctly and is not perforated.
