She was too ill to attend Her Majesty at the 1897 Diamond Jubilee celebrations in London, and died in Scotland while the Queen was away: much distressed, the Queen held a Memorial Service at Windsor in her honour. Annie Macdonald is buried in Crathie Church, Balmoral
