Franta Belsky (1921-2000) H. M. Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother plaster relief model for crown piece 21cm diameter Exhibited: Society of Portrait Sculptors, Mall Galleries, London, 1981 (5), plaster. Illustrated: see Franta Belsky - Sculpture, Richter, Prague and A. Zwemmer Ltd., London, 1992 for an example of this coin as struck. This crown coin was struck by The Royal Mint in cupro-nickel and silver in commemoration of The Queen Mother's Birthday. It was the winning design of an open competition in 1980.

Blade 20cms, overall 30.5cms. Good condition (small chip to point of one grip).
^ Good Quality North Indian ‘Khyber Knife’, early 19th century, pattern welded T-section blade of conventional form cut with an assortment of narrow fullers, back edge deeply engraved with an armoury number 6 (or 9!), iron gripstrap nicely decorated with gold koftgari foliage, 2 piece ivory grips of good colour each cut with a pair of grooves. In its green velvet covered scabbard with silver chape and gold koftgari decorated mouthpiece. Blade 53cms. ^ Good 19th Century India Mail Piercing Dagger Zirah Bouk, recurved wootz blade with burnished thick diamond section point, decorated with gold koftgari flowers and foliage at forte and around the grip strap, 2 piece ivory grips with tall pommel ears, in its green velvet covered sheath with silver gilt mouthpiece and ball finial. Indian Gauntlet Sword Pata, 17th or 18th Century, broad double edge firangi blade cut with a short narrow fuller, iron gauntlet hilt pierced and chiselled overall with flowering scrolling foliage, roped reinforced edge to gauntlet, iron bracket to retain the arm, cylindrical iron grip (loose). Overall 128cms, blade 94cms. Good condition, age worn, small working life braised repair to hilt, and traces of silver foil covering.
Massive and Heavy Indian Executioner’s Sword, 19th Century, broad thick blade chiselled on both sides with an assortment of scenes including 4 pairs of confronting elephants, divinity seated on tiger, another on a horse, another on an elephant, 3 figures each within an arcade, pairs of confronting peacocks, and all with trees, flowers and foliage, and inlaid with 2 brass divinities in high relief, the blade has a thickened point, iron hilt covered with thick silver koftgari in a repeated diaper pattern. Overall 81cma, blade 69cms. Good untouched condition and excellent age patina.

Blade 79cms. Good condition, age worn overall, disc pommel slightly loose.

Indian Sword Tulwar, Probably 18th Century, broad curved pattern welded blade of tegha form with false edge, iron hilt encrusted with silver foliage and with ‘gilt’ devices, canted pommel, knuckle bow with twin stylised bird head finials. Blade 76cms. Good condition, the ‘gilt’ devices in the hilt replaced with filler and painted gold.

Blade 72cms, overall 85cms. Good untouched condition, requires cleaning, some rust to the bottom half of the blade.

Very Unusual Anglo-Indian Cavalry Officer’s Number 2 Fighting Sword c.1800, broad curved single edge blade etched with remains of ‘Do not draw me without reason, Nor replace me without honour’ motto (in French or Spanish), iron guard and pommel of 1796 pattern, chequered one piece rhinoceros horn grip, in its black leather covered wooden scabbard with silver/copper alloy chape. Blade 32.5” Good untouched condition, some age wear, scabbard split along cutting edge.

Unusual Indo-European Sword, Probably 18th Century, earlier rapier blade cut with short deep fullers into which is stamped EN SOLINGEN, maker’s name indistinct, silver coloured metal hilt of European type, incorporating swollen calyxes, stylised animal head quillon terminal and stylised lion head pommel with open mouth all with niello decoration, silver wire bound grip. Good condition.

Blade 76cms. Generally good condition, the blade cleaned bright, some age wear overall and one quillon terminal slightly deformed.
Interesting 17th or 18th Century Indian Axe Zagnal, slightly curved beak-shaped head of thick square section, tall thick top spike, with integral tang and 2 piece wooden grips. Overall 80cms, blade 22cms. Good condition for age, retains some original silver foil damascene, wooden grips restored, some rust and pitting.
Good Indian Helmet Kulah Khud, 19th century, bowl raised from a single plate and chiselled overall with flowering foliage and with extensive gold koftgari decoration, border also with some silver koftgari decoration, and fitted with a sliding nasal bar, a pair of plume sockets, a square-section top spike and a camail of butted links. Good untouched condition.
Indian Helmet Kulah Khud, 19th Century, probably Delhi or Sialkot, the bowl of fluted ‘melon’ shape with fine silver koftgari decoration overall (silver requires cleaning), fitted with a pair of plume sockets, top plume socket, and sliding nasal bar, camail of butted links. Good untouched condition and excellent patina.
Fine Indian All Steel Shield Dhal, 19th Century, chiselled overall with cartouches containing tigers and elephants, central scene showing a king and 2 servants within an arcade, surrounded by 8 cartouches containing divinities and pairs of fighting animals alternately, border with silver koftgari and with 4 pairs of gold koftgari elephants and animals attacking, and all chiselled overall with flowering foliage, 4 pierced bosses, shaped reinforce to brim, inside with iron grip rings and cotton grips. Diameter 44.5cms. Good untouched condition.

Unusual Early 19th Century Afghan Sword Pulouar, heavy blade pattern welded with close narrow slightly raised ladder pattern [close rungs] and deeply struck with maker’s devices, double edged towards tip, iron hilt of conventional form with fluted pommel, stylised lion head quillon finials with pierced mouths and raised eyes, pierced langet finials, facetted grip, the hilt additionally secured to the blade with a rivet and a pair of silver rosettes. In its tooled black leather covered wooden scabbard with facetted iron chape en-suite with hilt. Blade 72cms. Good condition.
