A late 19th century Caucasian "St. George" shashqua, blade 30½" gold inlaid with a simple calvary cross, the silver hilt embossed, chased and nielloed overall with scrolls, foliage and flower heads, the pommel mounted with gold and enamel cross of the Order of St. George (the red enamel and figure of St George now missing from the centre), in its leather covered scabbard with embossed, chased and nielloed silver mounts, the lower mount struck with silver marks, with its original acorn sword knot and fragmented ribbon in the colours of the Order of St George. Basically GC (the blade worn and lightly pitted, old soldered repair to the hilt, the lower end of the scabbard has lost its chape and been re-covered in leather during its working life). £2000-2200

A good 18th/19th century Arab Nimcha, plain slightly curved blade 30½" with wide shallow fullers, the hilt of pale gilt silver with cruciform cross guard, angular grip, and triple chain knuckle guard, the grip and cross guard with chased borders, the pommel bearing circular medallions with Arabic inscriptions (?), in its pale gilt silver coloured scabbard which is decorated with panels chased with borders of flower heads and wavy lines and diagonal bands of foliage, the back edge of the locket with what appears to be an Arabic inscription. GC (the blade slightly worn, age tarnish overall). Would benefit greatly from careful cleaning. £2000-2200

Raverat, Gwen - SIGNED LETTER -"Period Piece, a Cambridge Childhood", London 1954, Readers Union: Faber & Faber, illustrations throughout, with a signed letter from Gwen Raverat to a Mrs Neville dated March 8th 1954 from the Old Granary, Silver Street, Cambridge, this is pastedown on ffep, the book itself has a bit of staining and the pictorial boards are worn and the pastedown title is missing
